If you look good in the picture you can see where I put the rudder servo so there is more weight in the back. I also put the elevator servo toward the rear of the plane also which allowed me to balance the plane without extra weight.

Did you build that from the article in Model Airplane News a year or so ago?
I plan on doing the same except for the landing gear. Not sure i want to go through that much work!
Planning on using a G45 in it, think that's too much??

No, I built it over 3 years ago... still flying strong and is one of my favorite planes to fly. I think the G45 will be too much and will shake the plane apart give it enough time. DLE 30 or 35 is perfect for this plane.

THIS MAY SOUND STRANGE BUT THE INSTRUCTIONS DO NOT SAY ANY THING ABOUT GLUING WING TOGETHER. NOT FOR SURE WHAT TO DO.

You don't glue them together.
They slide onto a wing tube then bolt to the plane for use.
after flying, unbolt them and separate them for easier storage,
i was common with older designs to have a one piece wing but today most large planes are designed with a two piece wing for easier transportation and storage,
Watch the video here: http://www.greatplanes.com/airplanes/gpma1224.html
Do a search on YouTube for $20 wing bags and make a set to store/transport them in, or simply buy a set ready made online...

Just finished up MY version of the Giant Big Stik! The DLE30 uses the stock aluminum mounts. I got a header and canister muffler off of ebay that weighs 4 oz more than the stock one. I moved the rudder and elevator servos forward as far as possible. 3/16 carbon fiber pushrods with 4-40 rods was used. I did support the pushrods mid way aft. I used 2pcs 5 cell 2,000Mah NiMh packs mounted right behind the firewall, one for RX and the other for ignition. A Sullivan 12oz tank fit perfectly in the bay right behind the wing dowel attach bulkhead. I did upsize the wheels to 4 1/2" Sullivan SkyLites. I also used DuBro giant scale hinges instead of the CA ones supplied. I did NOT use the cotter pins supplied with them. Instead I use big DuBro T pins and cut off most of the top. This "L" section then got glued into the surface. This gives a MUCH tighter hinge gap between the surfaces.
She weighs 13 pounds 8 ounces and needed NO additional nose weight. Balances at 6".
