I think the 35cc gasser would be way too much for this Aircraft. The Saito 125 that I have in it is more than enough power for this Tighrmoth. I live where I'm about 3000 feet above sea level and the Saito still pulls very good. Also the 4 lbs is another problem. You would have to add balast weight to the rear which would increase the flying weight alot. She would probly fly because of the high lift profile of the wings. But, landing would be a real chore. Not sure if the stock landing gear could handle that weight. My flying weight comes in at about 11 lbs. That seems to be just right. I can climb out at about 60 deg with no problem.

I agree with the overpower of a 125, mine flys straight and level at 1/4 throttle at sea level (Houston TX). Anything more than 1/3 and she wants to climb, climb, climb! Mine was tail heavy and the landing gear bows with the weight, so I'm trying to designs some type of support. Good airplane thought.

About the landing gear!! Mine did the bow thing too! So, I took it off and cleaned the paint off and used a soldering torch and took the solder joints apart, cleaned them and re soldered everything with silver solder. I took some 20 gauage copper wire and wrapped it around the center cross pieces where it make an "X" then soldered that as well. They seem to be solid. I also changed out the stock wheels with Sulivan low bounce wheels. It all work really well.

Thanks for the input folks. Sounds like the moth may be a little light for my engine. Planes coming apart in mid-air are not my idea of relaxation.

I have a 40 size TM that is a knockoff of pacific aero ''s small TM. CG is on the leading edge of the lower wing about 1/2"
inboard of the outer struts. sounds strange but it fly 's Don't like the upper wing mounting on this one either post any improvements please.

I picked up a "Green Model" Tigermoth 1.20 at the Toledo RC show...Overall it looks a-lot like the nitroplanes TM, but with better landing Gear & fuselage cabanes.
I've added some camoflage (since I'm a warbird addict) and it's been probably the easiest and most complete ARF I've ever built...The downside was it had no instructions, so I contacted Hobby lobby to get a set of theirs from their Super TigerMoth...It looks like it's almost the same plane.
Which is prbably the same as the Pacific Aero Models TM also...Just a few lil' changes from knock-off company to knock-off company.
CG is 6"-6.5" back from upper wings' leading edge.

4 my first build, i bought the electric EP-yellow with a 870mm wingspan in April, and i am just getting the details i needed to get past the servo installation![sm=drowning.gif]
i bugged the local hobby shop owner and their other store about my LiPo charger problems and got that resolved under warranty and just yesterday re-bought the proper motor and mounting brackets.
my first "nugget" learned about the servos:
* it is OK to have servo arms pointing in opposite directions (to each wing tip). I have a transmitter that has "mixing."
beyond this, there is little else, yet.
What have you been able to do since your post?

Hi Warren, I am having ihe same problems, but mine are the top wings there are no predrilled holes for the cabine struts. Can you help me out? My manuel does have the CG location on th 129 Raiden Tec Tiger Moth 120.

Several months age I purchased the Niro 120 Tiger Moth and I have been searching the forums for help building this plane. I will be converting it to electric and so far I have acquired the following items:
Scorpion 4020-14 motor with 14x7E prop
Castle Creation Phoenix ICE Lite 100 amp speed control
4-Hitec standard servos HS-485HB (for elevator and alirons) and the 645MG for the rudder
2-12 and 1- 24 inch servo extensions
I plan on using an adjustable metal motor mount to position the motor in the cowling. Frankly I'm looking for help here. I acquired a copy of R/C Report September 2008 article written by Gordan Banks which provides insight how to put the plane together. But I still have a lot of questions. <style type="text/css">p { margin-bottom: 0.08in; }</style>

I bought this plane, and I am also dissappointed with the instructions, especially the cabaine struts. They bolt on the wing easy enough, but there are no holes in the fuselage at the bottom. Did your kit have the same problems?

I fly a dymond 40 TM an need to drill the holes for the cabanes.
I set my top wing at -1 relative to the lower wing an drilled the holes for the cabanes.
They call that decathlage.

hey im really looking to buy this plane i was wondering if i could fit a home converted ryobi 31cc gas engine in this modle or if it would be over or under powered.? if anyone has the dimensions of the cowl and firewall that would be great!!! thanks
