RE: Carl Goldberg 67" Edge 540 ARF
Thanks Bill, I'll be giving you guys a call. I built my 540 in August and have had a ball on every flight which is so far around 6 of them. I've got a pretty sizeable fleet of smaller planes and I take this one out on extremely nice days. So far I haven't experienced any flutter, so the mere mention of this kind of problem has gotten my interest as to if I've done something when building mine that had not been done by others. I'm thinking I probably didn't but here goes the question. Did everyone else that built the Edge counterbore the mating hinge surfaces to accept the larger portion of the hinge in order to make the joint tight. Basically so that the leading edge of the aileron appears to touch the mating surface? I saw sealing tape mentioned so I gotta ask.
Thanks in advance!

RE: Carl Goldberg 67" Edge 540 ARF
Hey guys,
This is the first time to rcu for me and I am really greatful to hear what everyone has to say. Anyway I also had my eye on the edge 540 for a long time before I finally bought the arf. After reading all the feedback I am skeptical. The kit did come with upgraded hardware so mabee I'll be ok. The real ? I have is I'm wodering if the O.S. 120 surpass III w/pump will be enough poop for this bird. I'm also planning on using high torque servos , would it be a good idea to use a 6v reciever pack. I'm not sure. Anyway any feedback would be much appriciated.

Mine is still flying great! I went up for three consecutive knife edge spins just a couple of weeks ago along wit a couple of flat spins. No Problem! Cool plane! I got the 77" Yak 54 new in the box but I'd rather have the 77" Edge as a second one.

I really want a plane this size and everyone is saying that this is flying nicely.
I haven't heard any complaints about wings breaking since the replacement hardware was introduced. Should I take this as there are no longer any problems?
Or are people just not buying this plane?

RE: Carl Goldberg 67" Edge 540 ARF
Took my Edge up the other day for some spins, flat spins, inverted flat spins and knife edge spins. Had a buddy trying out the Waterfall but it didn't pan out at the time. He needs to work on it and the plane needs a little more tuning. As to the engine, I have a Saito 120S on there and when I initially set it up the CG came right in at the rearward mark. The power is sufficient to give it hovering power plus pull it straight up out of a hover. I'm surprised that they are gradually discontinuing the Goldberg lines. This plane is a great design and has flown well everytime I put it in the air. Just make sure you counterbore the hinge pockets so the base of the hinge will fit in there and allow the surfaces to fit up tight. I put JR Sport 126mg servos on both elevator halves and the rudder and then standard 47BB servos throughout the rest of the airframe. If my dumb thumbs shoot my Edge out of the sky.......I'm getting another just like it.....If they still have them available.....

To get it at the 200.00 price just go to www.towerhobbies.com. They're selling it for 229.00 and you use the discount code to get a 30.00 discount on a 225.00 purchase or more and if you're a Super Saver club member you can get free shipping on orders over 150.00.

I second that PropSpinner! I wish I had gotten another. I flew mine Thursday and again yesterday. Flat spins, Inverted Spins, Knife Edge spins...Rock solid flying with no bad tendencies. They've got the 77" Goldberg Edge left and the rest of that line are discontinued. Sad thing for the Goldberg name.

I'm still tweeking mine but once I'm done I should be able to do all the above 3D moves. The thing I kept playing with was Harriers. I was able to Harrier inverted which I've never done. I'm not that great a 3D pilot but I like it better than my 74" EF Yak. I might order the 77" GB Edge before they run out.
The weather's too nasty to fly today. I'm bumbed out! I want to get the OS 120AX tuned in and give it another try.

Just bought one off a friend who didn't want it anymore. Only had a few flights. 1.20AX, XOAR prop. Put two flights on it today. Awesome flying plane. Little problem with getting 3D throws out of the elevators and rudder due to the pull pull system and elevator servos location. Have to fool with it a bit to tweak it out.

RE: Carl Goldberg 67
Does anyone know where I can get a cowl for a Carl Goldburg 67 edge 540? I have a used one and I converted to electric, Flys great now. Electric is less weight, than motor and fuel.
