Well I have to say one of the best ARF's I have built. Cowl matched up right away. The only thing i found was that my 91 was too short and had to construct spacers for the engine mount. Battery and receiver up front and it CGed perfectly. Very nice construction and flies like a champ. Now the bad news [] . After about 3 weeks of flights my cheap servos gave way and it crashed [X(] . I had Futaba 3151 in the wings (everyone told me to wait but i was too excited to get it in the air and once it flew i never looked back) wow was that a mistake. I had the servos laying around so I used them (oh I'll use then for just for the first flight I said to myself), I use them on my trainers. I had an O.S 91 2 stroke 15x6 prop in it and it moves. Climbs like it is on a straight decent. I LOVE THIS PLANE. I did pay the full tower hobbies price and I would again if need be. OH and it crashes very well. Have it rebuilt already and waiting on monocote, and yes the 9451's are on order and coming in.

You should get some JR Sport 125 MG, $34.00 ea. , metal gears and 125 oz. of torque. I use them on all my planes now and I have Futaba radio gear and they work fine.

Please help!

Just lost my Seagull Edge 540 last weekend and looking for another Edge (never Seagull again) -> http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_42..._1/key_/tm.htm
I like the CG Edge 540 but I would like to see some shots of the plane inside the fuse and the top hatch. Is it mostly film cover and a couple of basla stringers on the bottom or does it have some reinforcement in there. For those that have one please post some pics.
Thanks.

Hang in there guys. I'm waiting for a Keleo creations muffler for my saito 125 and I can start my build. Maybe later this summer I'll have some pics for you all.

Kind of a bit dissapointed in this plane. The elevator servos are in the fuse with push rods as opposed in the tail. Not very pleased with 36-40" of wire pushing large control surfaces. If I'll get one I'll have to modify the tail and install servos in there. Not too worried about the added weight since I will put an OS 1.08FSR in the nose.

No doubt this looks like a nice airplane and the video on Tower's website looks great. But I think it is overpriced. If you're looking at this airplane you need to take a look at the Aeroworks Edge 540T .46 - .61. The Saito 100 is the largest engine recommended for it. I have that engine in it and it provides unlimited vertical and I am at 3000 ft. and 110 deg. F. I had to put 3 oz. on the motor mount to get the recommended CG so in theory I could easily put a larger engine in this bird. The Saito 100 and muffler weigh about 21 oz. The Aeroworks Edge is a high quality ARF in every way. It has a pull pull setup for the rudder and 1 elevator servo in the tail. I compete with this airplane at IMAC events in the Basic class. If you have .90 2 strk or 100 4 strk you can't go wrong with this airplane. Very easy to land. $189

Les40,

The Aeroworks might be a good plane but you are comparing apples to oranges. A 40 size to a 120 size plane. Yes the Goldberg is high priced but you get what you pay for.

If you can't afford it, don't buy it. It does'nt seem to bother Goldberg and I love mine.

R/C Foolish You have a good point and I do agree with you. I mentioned the Aeroworks because some guys were considering putting a Saito 100 in the Goldberg Edge and I feel they would be dissapointed with the vertical performance they would end up with.

R/C Foolish,

Do you have unlimited vertical with the Saito 120 in this airplane. By unlimited vertical I mean can you pull vertical and draw a vertical line for as long and high as you want to? If so what prop are you using? I ask because I'm looking for a home for a Saito 125 and was considering the Goldberg Edge.

How would do an OS 1.08 FSR in the Goldberg Edge spinning a MAS 16X6 prop at about 10.000 RPM?

Well you're going to have about 18 lbs. of static thrust with that engine and prop. See: http://www.lcrcc.net/thrust_calc.htm

You're going to have unlimited vertical performance.

Guys just an update. I purchased a new edge 540 from towers and spared no expense. I went with the futaba 9451 all around (throttle uses a 3151(left over from last crash) and smoke uses a 3003.) and two panisonic 2000Mah NmHi batteries to power those servos at 6.0v. I went and put a smoke system in like the one seen here ([link=http://www.greathobbies.com/technical/tech_smoke_1.php?PHPSESSID=072134a345f386652fce8ec e3fc03e13]http://www.greathobbies.com/technical/tech_smoke_1.php?PHPSESSID=072134a345f386652fce8ec e3fc03e13[/link]). The system went in very easy and produces about 3 minutes of full "beautiful, bellowing smoke", am sure i can get more time out of it just need to not open the valve all the way. I have a 6oz tank for the smoke oil and it is great. Fully filled with oil and fuel the model weights about 11.6lbs. I used a magnum 1.80 four stroke in it to pull the extra weight. I had to add about 1 oz of weight to the tail to get the proper CG. I have yet to fly it tho, just breaking it in. !!!!SUGGESTION>>>> use a little dab of canopy glue on each of the points of the stars to keep them laying down...!!!!!!!

UPDATE----- Man i this plane great. I flew it and let me tell you i love it more than ever. The magnum 1.80 is a little over kill but it is great to point it upward and watch it climb to the heavens..... The smoke system is great got a lot of ohhhs from the guys in the club(not that haven't seen it before just that it was like a little surprise). I have photos but don't know how to upload them. or do i need to point them to another server like photobucket

Sorry to hear about your mishapening, but then that is a part of this hobby. Def looks fixable though. Glad to hear you liked your plane.
