Default sig extra 300xl arf, which glow motor ?

I have the purple and white sig extra 300xl, I am trying to decide which motor i want to put in it.My options do not include gas so please do not try and tell me it needs gas, The top choices are the moki 1.8 or 2.1 , os 1.60 fx . magnum 1.8 , irvine 1.50 , mds 2.18. now i own a lanier edge with a 1.60 fx and has completely unlimited vertical, i also have the giles 202 with the mds 1.48 and has nearly unlimited vertical.I have experience with these big motors and want an easy starting , stump pulling powerhouse. I dont care about fuel economy since i use 5 % its cheap enough ,I realize the extra is not a 3d machine but i have flown two and they fly great .both had gas and i was not impressed.any info on these motors with this plane combo will be greatly appreciatted. thanks, Mike.

I have had 2 oe the Sig planes 1 has the 160 and th other had the Saito180. They were both very egual but the 160 had the edge over the 180. I might nit had proper the 180 propjust with but for the kind of power the 160 i liked best .

Go with the OS 160, Bisson Muffler & 15% coolpower. 10-12 minute flights with the stock 17oz tank are no problem. 16x10 APC prop tach at 9000rpm, No tach readings or flights with 18x8 Bambula yet.

Hey crazyray you stole my avatar!!!!

Hehe it's all good, i'll share it with you.

Anyways i'll make this short..

Get the extra, you'll f'n love it, get the 1.60fx or 1.80-2.10 moki.
Good servos 80oz for each elevator and ailerons and 100+ ounce for the rudder.

I have a 1.60fx (18x8 zingerPro)on mine and it flies great.

I have the MOKI 1.8 in mine and it's just right. Specifically, I am running the Moki 1.8 2-stroke engine with Bisson Pitts Muffler and Mejzlic 19X8 propeller. It spins at a solid 7700 RPM. It'll go faster when I start leaning it out more. This is about 23 lbs of static thrust, or about a 1.7:1 thrust to weight ratio.

The plane balance is perfect.

rvd, Sorry about that........and thanks! What RPM do you get from the 18x8 ZingerPro?

Midget Racer, I use HiTec 645MG with excellent results (60 flights) with no problems. If you want digital the 5645MG are good as well and you can use the Hitec programer with them. Links below.

Hey there rvd. Yep, I like to (fly) fish. Alot. I'm not Italian, the last name is pronounced "DEV uh no" - more French than Italian. However, it IS French Canadian, so we still have at least something in common. My grandfathers father and my grandmothers family all come from Quebec. Yeah I know Quebec doesnt wanna be associated with Canada, but it's close.

I really do like this SIG 300XS. It got alot of flying time this fall.

crazyray ,

with 10% omega and a bisson pitts, perry vp-20 pump ,18x8 zinger pro i get between 8100-8200 rpm. That is functional rpm not overleaning it to make it rev, I fly with those readings. I am going to try 15% fuel and also i mixed up some 18% nitro, 20%klotz so we'll see what that does.

I have seen guys posting these sick readings of like 9000-9500 with the same setup I have so who knows if they are talking bull**** or the elevation (corrected elevation) changes it that much.

My Moki 1.8 turns a Top Flite 18x8 at 8800 at sea level. Not sure how those 160FX's can beat that .
