Sorry, I posted this 2 days ago, but somehow I posted it to the wrong thread.
Here is what I said in reply to post #120:
If you read my "Got Smoke" article, you'll see that I do not recommend wrapping the muffler with a preheat ing coil.
The reason for this is simple... You need a HOT muffler. When you take heat from the muffler to heat the oil, YOU ARE TAKING HEAT AWAY FROM THE MUFFLER!
Another reason is to keep the system simple. You will find that a smoke system is not a "Plug n Play" item, they require constant adjusting, so the simpler it is, the better.
The article referred to earlier was written by someone that I tutored through the process. On my original skyboly I used the "Fiberglass wrapped with Aluminum tape" method, and it worked well, but later I discovered that it wasn't needed, so I left it off in later applications because, like i said, "Keep it simple".
Now, IF I needed more heat, I would insulate the muffler, or preheat the oil, or both. BUT, if I were going to preheat the oil, I would wrap the engine's head so I'm not stealing heat from where I need it the most.
Think about it... Let's relate heat to money. You need (let's say) $1.00 worth of heat to get smoke. You're muffler is putting out 99¢, so you need more heat. Ok, you wrap the muffler with copper tubing, and you steal 25¢ worth of heat and put it in the oil. Now you pump that warm oil into a muffler that only has 74¢ of heat left. You're back to square 1 with 99¢ worth of heat.
Now, you wrap the head instead, and (Since it's not as hot as the muffler) you get 15¢ worth of heat. But now you pump that 15¢ into your 99 muffler, and you've broken the $1 mark - So she smokes!

Im sorry but I didn't hear any air frame noise, in fact I did notice how tight and solid it felt. Some of that noise might be the coils wrapped around your muffler. One thing I did do was use Central Hobbies 1/8" carbon fiber pushrods with titanium ends to connect the upper and lower ailerons as well as a 4-40 push rod from aileron servos to the aileron instead of the 2-56 supplied. Incidently I weighed the CF push rod assembly (.05 oz) compared to the solid wire stock setup (.2 oz.) I changed this because onetime reaching to turn the switch off I bumped the wire pushrod connecting the ailerons and bent the heck out of if. The other huge plus about this plane, fully assembled, it fits in the back of my SUV with room to spare. .

Just cruising around at half throttle or below it sounds 'normal'. It's much more pronounced when that 110 is pulling hard. I'm going to try it without the coils to double check that but they feel tight, no black residue around them as would be if they were chafing the muffler. Some red hi-temp silicone on them would stop any noise if needed, though.

Damifino This may not be the vibration noise that is in youre SkyBolt but i Had a simular vibration noise in my Funtana 90 with a Saito
100 on the nose we rechecked the prop ballance changed to a soft mount for the motor and came to find out that the spinner was not in ballance . ( JUST a thought )

How you guys install the stablizer ? Did you slide the stablizer side way through the slot then before it reached the center line brush epoxy and slide it to the final position or you cut the stablizer slot through to the end of fuselage then slide the stablizer from the end of the tail ? Help needs pls.

Edd, the stabilizer slides through slot. You apply the epoxy where the covering has been removed as it gets to the final position. One other thing, the tail post block must be removed before the fin can be installed (An omission in the Manual).

Mine does it on the ground so it must be engine/cowl related. I found the check valve was touching the cowling. Anything there will surely resonate. I have a plan to try and isolate the noise. I'll post if I find what it is...

Most of 'em I've seen are 10-24. The Great Planes ARF comes with standard hardware, not metric.

Jan. 24, 2007- Great customer service so far from Sullivan Products. Called them this morning about sending my Smokewriter in for repair, got an answering machine. Left a message about having a problem with a pump. Less than 2 hrs later a nice lady called me from Sullivan and told me to send it in. They'll take look at it and let me know how much $$. When I got home this evening there was a reply to the e-mail I sent them on Sunday concerning the same issue. So far they are scoring high on customer service........

Yes I have seen it and it's a very Cool video NICE JOB !!! I love the looks of the SkyBolt cant wait to finish mine .
