Onions? where can I get some onions? I think I really need onions!
The temp is going all the way up to 37F today with no wind so I'm flyin!!!!
Lucky dog, huh? Anxious to see how she does in cold air with the Heli fuel- Saito 91 used to love it on a heavier (10#) plane I had.
Only thing better is 40, no wind and SUNNY!

Gather the onions while you can.

One of those euphemisms that the cyber-censors will have a hard time tagging.

There was mention a page or 2 back that somebody had seen one of these flying with a gasser, but no specifics.

With some of the smaller gasoline engines coming out, more guys will no doubt give it a try. Even so, power-to-weight ratios still favor glow by a fairly substantial margin, by the time you add ignition and ignition battery. I have heard that some are using the Rx battery for both ignition (with an optically isolated BEC) and the receiver to save weight, but that isn't something I would do.

Wow, that should be interesting. The plane floats nicely at 7.5 lbs, so maybe it can handle 9. We will know soon, eh?

Can you post pics of the installation?

Check your regular email for RCU email from me.

Not a good idea to post personal email addresses on the open forum. Scavengers will scoop it up and an avalanche of junk mail will ensue.[:@]

You're welcome!

I think they wouldn't load originally because the files were too large, a couple of them almost 2 mb. Best to re-size them down to about 800x600 and save as jpeg "low" (which means higher compression, but still plenty of quality online) and the file sizes will be way under 100 kb.

I use a program called "HP Image zone" that came with my HP printer. It offers a re-size to a size they call E-mail; which takes the picture to less than 100kb. They are then an easy upload and very clear. Their new size is 480x640.

Looks very nice. Let us know how your maiden flight goes. I mounted a Magnum 91RFS on mine. Here's some pics...

That sounds good. I'm kind of an old graphics guy, so I use Photoshop. But the super-simple macros with the image handling programs are indeed pretty good these days. Even Photoshop has a "save for web" option that does the same thing.

I'm just about finished assembling mine. I'm using a ST 90 in the standard mount. How do you rig the throttle servo? The fuel tank is in the way. Any pics?

The outer tube for the throttle must lay right next to the vertical ply of the tank area and right alongside the tank. I also made a light ply stiffner that fits over that guide tube and glues to the bulkhead just aft of the tank. That supports that tube and the thin wire. With my OS 75AX mounted at the stock half inverted angle, the hole in the firewall is fairly close to the side tank plywood and at the bottom of the tank. I just snaked it a little and seem to have very little binding type of resistance.

I ran the throttle linkage along the tank floor for the ST 90's in my plane as well as my sons. Then there is a slight z type bend needed in the wire between the firewall and the carburetor. There are plenty of pictures in this thread somewhere. But I can't even remember the pages to tell you were to start looking.

I got the new ignition for it today but it turns out that the magnet on the sensor is the wrong way. No flying today.

Thanks for the info. Got it all hooked up, no binding.

Igot a Magnum 91 4 stroke for Christmas, I'm going to use it instead of the ST 90. Wish now Ihadn't cut the cowl to fit that huge muffler in. The Magnum hasn't arrived yet, so I can't measure it. Should I order the longer cowl (180mm) or just go with the shorter(140mm)one?

I thought Iwas ready to maiden this one, but I think I'll like the 4 stroke betterwhen it's done.
