New GP ARF---RV-4
This looks like a nice new ARF...but I'm still hoping for a Cherokee, Ercoupe, or Tripacer

Sounds good but why an RV-4? Now if it was an RV-7 I could not order one fast enough.

wouldn't be that hard to bash it into a RV-6/7
I wish it were just a hair bigger so I could put a 26cc gasser on it.

We now have the Stinson and a bunch of Cessna 182's.
Here's a poll I started way back when and even took it to the Toledo show and tried to put it in some peoples hands, to motivate some designs. Maybe if we just keep asking, we'll get it!

Excellent! The RV-4 is the best looking RV made. I was going to build a full scale one but then decided that the RV-6 was more useful. Thanks Great Planes!

I already own the smaller kit version of this plane and I have to admit is is a very nice sport plane to fly. I tend to use this if its windy as it handles a breeze pretty well.

Guys, EAM makes an RV-6 and a 6A version ARF. Except for a little bit of a curled cowl where it fits to the firewall, it's an excellent plane. And yes, if someone made a 7 or a 10, you bet, I'd be on the order list too. MM

Actually EAM now offers it as an RV-6 or 7 you can build it either way. It's just a little smaller at 64", and I want one more in the 80" or bigger range.
I have old RCM plans for a .46 size RV-6 by Ed Westwood in .pdf format. I can modify them in photoshop to whatever scaling I want. I think I even printed them out at 75" once for quarter scale.
I have about talked myself into scratching a RV-6/7 1/3rd scale (90") based off of these plans - I have a Brillelli 46cc on it's way that would probably fly it just about the way I like. I'm just worried that I could get the wing and fuse built, and then not be able to get the cowl and canopy done. Guess that's part of the fun. I would most likely build wooden plugs, epoxy coat them and then ship them to someone like Fiberglass Specialties or Stan's Fibertech. I shudder that the cost of "one-off" parts manufacturing.

A friend from work that is an RC pilot and a full scale RV-6 builder and pilot said he used to fly with a guy that had a 1/3 scale RV-3 with a Sachs chainsaw conversion on it. He said it was an ARF with sheeted foam wings and it really flew great. Does anyone remember who made it? I was wanting to build the 40 size RV 4 but i like the idea of a bigger plane. I would really like an 80 inch RV-8. That would be nice.

RE: New GP ARF---RV-4
you know - I have long wondered why companies like Hangar 9, great Planes and the such won't sell builder's plans of their planes. I know that the ARF's are designed to be built in jigs and assembled differently than the way most handbuilt kits are, but if I had the plans (Especially in a digital format) I'd pay $25-35 a pop to be able to get a copy for great flying planes like the Shoestring. I'd love to have a 1.60 sized Shoestring.
The ARF manufacturers aren't going to lose money, as most people that would go the kit built route wouldn't opt for the ARF, and vice versa. Plus think of all the money your LHS or Tower or whoever makes selling balsa and glue and all the little stuff (that have pretty decent profit margins built in) that it takes to build a kit.
But -hey that's just my rant.

from the webpage:
"Ron Swift's Lance Machine Design RV-3. This is a rare collector's item powered by a Saito 3.0 Twin 4-stroke (FA300TDP) . It weighs 24 pounds and has a 96-inch wing span. The model has an onboard glow system and flies about 10 minutes on the 24 ounce fuel tank. The engine produces awsome power and scale sound on the Cool Power 4-stroke fuel. The model is a capable flyer, but a little tricky to land, since it loves to glide and glide and glide during the landings."
