Enjoy. It's an all-around fun airplane. Hard to get a good spin out of it, but it'll do what you want.

Well after going back and forth between getting another Evolution engine, I stopped at my LHS and 45 minuets later came our with my 1st 4 stroke, a Saito 72. Got her all broke in yesterday and she runs like a charm. I hope to maiden the t___t with the Saito this week. It's gonna be a balmy 38 degrees. I'll post some pics tonight. I was surprised on the weight difference compared to the evolution .52 that i was gonna pick up. The Saito was much lighter than the evo and the OS 70 4 stroke.

Brought the T___T out for the first sub zero ( 15 degrees) flight of the winter with the new Saito 72. Other than my finger tips being frozen, I was more than pleased with the new engine and the T___T's performance. I have been looking at Great Planes Reactor for my next plane. Has anyone on here flown one of these yet?

thanks,
Kassun

good choice, Kassun. I put a .72 on one of my PnP's and have just about flown the covering off mine. the backup bird still has the Evo.46, and it's almost boring to fly compaired to the Saito powered ship. Just a friendly reminder ( I found out the hard way) to re-check the balance point before you ever try to knife edge- I had a bunch of up trim (4.75 cg) to compensaite, so the first time I rolled it on it's side, it was near disaster. after some addition of a little lead, I was able to knife down the flying feild and just play with the throttle as I made the pass. . .
good luck...

I picked up a used twist with a .91FX. It weighs in at 5.5 pounds. I am impressed and think I can get it at to 5.25 with some modifications. I am looking forward to some crazy fun![8D]

I don't know if you feel like more work but on my .72 I rotated the carb 180 degrees so that the high-end adjustment was oposite from the muffler. For you to acomplish that you would need to move the throttle push rod to the other side, too. It's some effort but I wouldn't want to make the carb adjustment so close to a hot muffler. Enjoy your Twist.

I have a 40 and I was thinking of putting a 61FX on it....any thoughts? I have a 46AX on it right now and it doesn't seem to have enough @$$ for some 3D maneuvers.

PmikeyG,

As a suggestion, try a 12x3.75 3D prop first with the .46. I swapped my 11x6 out for that and was amazed at the difference in power.

Just my $.02

Try an apc 12.25 x 3.75 or 12 x 4 prop - that will give you more thrust.

Hi,
New to this thread.
I picked up a Twist 40 PNP, with a Evo 46 but the guy didn't have the manual.
Does anyone know what the measurement for the CG is?
Thanks and Happy Landings!

It'd been a while since I've had the .40 size. But if I remember right 4 3/4" is in the ball park. On my .60 it's about 5 3/4 to 6"

Must be something going around. By the last days of flying last Fall I'd lost both the T___T3D and the T___T60 (beyond repair for both of them this time, and I know you all know what I'm talking about [X(].

The T___T3D was kind of funny. I knew the wind was blowing and gusting a little too hard but I went up anyhow. On my 3rd attempt to bring it in, it was like a big ol'hand picked it up and just slapped it down ( a fly swatter comes to mind ). This was also in front of everyone at the final fly in of the year so of course I got a lot of sympathy and the typical ribbing. One of the guys at the other end of the flight line had brought a few planes to sell, and lo and and behold, he had a BRAND NEW T___3D in the box just waiting for me and it only cost me $70. [8D]

Just finished the new T___T60 last week and the T___T3D today as a matter of fact, so I'm good to go again.

Hi Guys,

Just about to start building my Twist 40,

Thier are so many threads about this plane just cant read throu all of them my question is.

1) I have4 spare engines but not sure which to go with for the twist i have a OS46FX, Irvine 53, or a Rossi 53 and a Rossi 60 i think the rossi may be too heavy............., any recommendations ?

2) Also any advice to beef anything up or tips whilst i put her together ?

Thx in advance for any advice or info

46fx would be perfect. Strong enough for unlimited vertical and it's light. Some people say "heavier engine is fine, because it's also stronger to pull it", but I say that with a 3D plane like this one, where you go slow, you want to put in an engine that is strong enough for unlimited vertical, but as light as possible. The extra power of a bigger engine is nice for flying fast, but those harriers etc. will be harder and squirrelier. Prop: 12x4W or 13x4W.

Strengthen the fuselage side "walls" right aft of the trailing edge of the ailerons. During snap rolls, that's known to break!

On mine, the vinyl wing bolt broke (no, I did not tighten it too much). Crash, fuselage broke into 2 pieces. Fixed it and used a metal bolt from home depot. No problems anymore.

I'm cranking with a 61fx and that is probably my most favorite, but I also loved the 70 4 stroke which is on there now, and it has been crashed into millions of pieces a few times (mid airs and what not)and it repaired very easy, I hear the 46 works great so give it a try, thisplane has many great options for the horse.

Beef up the landing gear area by putting some epoxy over the inside area around the landing gear block, just drizzle it in there with a long stick or a Q-tip.

and brace up right behind the wing saddle, if you can use some triangular stock, or I just used regular 1/8x 1/8 balsa sticks and epoxied them in where the red lines are in the pic.

You may not need to do it until the enevidable happens, but you may as well and avoid the weak spot problem right from the start.

Whats up everyone! Alright so I can now join this forum!
So I'm going today to pick up a Twist with a .46fx, a Futaba 6xas radio and receiver installed, and all servos for 200 dollars!

I think my only question is what prop would you all suggest.... I really want that torquey feeling, I think I may get some big ole tires for it so I can get a big 3D prop on there, I already know I'm going to beef up behind the wing saddle, do NOT want the plane to snap in mid air.... I'm experienced pilot I've flown 3D before but never 3D Glow... I think I'm really gonna love this plane!

APC 12x4W is what comes to mind. A friend of mine uses that on a 46AX on a 40 size profile plane and it's got tons of pull out from hovers. Excellent price on the setup that you got!!!
