New big CMP Cub.
Has anyone seen this model IRL? It sure looks good in the pictures and has some nice details but without more full views it's difficult to say how scale it is: http://cmpairplane.com/scale/Piper%2...20%20Size.html
They sure like to recommend big engines for their planes. I thought the Cub only had doors on the right side.

It still looks pretty good though. I guess we could just glue the left door shut. The cowling shape looks slightly wonky and the tailfins look off somehow but I can't put my finger on what it is. Maybe I'll get one when they start to show up at dealers here if the price is right, I've been looking to get a Cub for a while now.

will be a nice addition to those wanting a large bird of this type without paying a small fortune. Their Cessna has been a hit so far and I think this will follow it.
Is it me or does it seem CMP planes are getting better with each model they release? I concede that its not scale but for the $200ish your gonna pay for it I find it hard to beat

Another CUB!!!!!!!????????????? [:'(][:'(][:'(]
Why not just build another trainer with short coupling instead of going to the trouble of TRYING to make it look scale--and then screw that up by putting the only door on the wrong side? What a waste of time.

Perhaps this is a scale model of the "American Legend Cub".

I agree w/ the comments about the CMP recommended engine sizes. They do look awfully big to me. My H-9 "Pn'P" J3 (80"w/s, slightly under 1/5 scale) flies beautifully at about 3 clicks off idle w/ the .46 Evo engine. My 1/4 scale World Models J3 (106" w/s) does the same w/ an old Saito 120. I fly them both in a scale manner. The "problem" with both is not getting them up, but getting them down! If you don't have a nice low idle, you're gonna be up there a while. With the supplied tank, I can get more than 30 minutes from the H-9 with about a fifth of a tank left! Lots of touch and goes, low passes.
Anyway, I wish them luck with this one. I'm going to Toledo this week, so I'll look around to see if there's one there. Be able to tell a lot more than the pics.

It's nice to see that a full size version with two doors exists. The tail surfaces probably look a little weird because they are so thick.

RE: New big CMP Cub.
20cc gas engine?.. what is that, like a 120 4strk? overpowered for sure but maybe people want to do 3d with it
maybe intended for floats?, aero towing?
that would be a good engine for a 1/4 scale Cub.. may be hard to balance it with a small engine if you try to replace a 3.5lb gasser with something smaller.
Sure looks nice, and the landing gear!.. will definetely buy one to electrify.
I am going to get a CMP tattoo one of these days..

RE: New big CMP Cub.
G'day Mobyal....
I am looking for someone who owns a CMP J3 Cub. I have one of these with, guess what....an even bigger engine....CMP recommended a 26cc petrol, and that's what put on it....CRRC 26cc to be precise. Really overpowered as you suggested, but, no worries, I have never needed full throttle yet. From my experience I would say a 20cc petrol or even 17cc would be good.
Anyway....I need the measurement between the lugs on the undercarriage leg.......if you know anyone who has one??? Mine is a few thousand miles away from me at the moment, and I need to order some tension springs to hook onto these lugs. Would appreciated any help here....
PS...I wouldn't say the Cub is my favourite.......I also have a Goldwings Models Extra 300 LP 30cc petrol...but thats another story.
Regards....Tony
