Ok 150 is out of the question. I saw how you make a hole from the bottom, but I would really like the canopy removable. I am sure someone has some sort of latch that can be uses.

Yes it is a kmp arf. This tucano flies like a pattern aircraft, solid, responsive but sensitive .The YS 91 tugs it around the sky at about 90mph, the flaps create lots of drag with some pitch up when deployed, lands well with a little power on final. This tucano weight is 11.2 lbs

Hi Guys:
The new Tucano's will be arriving in about 45 days. The original black/yellow ones are sold out. We're working on having the factory chnage the canopy design for future models... what I can tell you is that the new batch does have a lexan "tray" that serves as a canopy base so you can now put two pilot figures in the cockpit.

Andrew- any updates on the 120 sized version?
Also for those interested, COMPARF just released a monster thats built for a turbo prop, too rich for my blood but i'm glad to see someone building a BIG one

RE: KMP Shorts Tucano
I finally flew mine, and I am NOT happy with it. To get it to balance at 4" I had to add 5oz of lead on the firewall. I then flew it and it still seems to be too tail heavy. It is VERY touchy.
It just wants to go nose up, I trim it with down elevator to get it level again. Then if I pull back on the elevator, I then have to give it more down trim on the elevator. I probably have about 20degrees of down on the elevator. It just doesn't seem right. Like I said it is VERY touchy and on landing I ended up hitting hard on the nose gear and bent the new retracts!
How does everyones else fly?

RE: KMP Shorts Tucano
Ok, got mine all finished and ready for a maiden flight. It's all electric with 1400 watts of power. The final weight is just under 10 lbs. I installed Spring Air retracts and setup the canopy to come off with one latch. I glued a deck to the base of the canopy and stuck a pilot in there. The whole thing comes off in one piece and allows easy access to the wing bolts and battery. Can't wait to fly!

RE: KMP Shorts Tucano
Did the maiden flight yesterday between thunder storms The plane flew excellent and needed just a little elevator trim. Flaps worked well on mid setting, but I had too much down elevator on full flaps. Didn't really need them anyway as there was plenty of head wind. Plane flew great with plenty of power for now. I think it will need more speed later, but it's fine for now. The spring air retracts are great and with the oleo struts make for a smooth landing. I'll try and post some video later.

Ron,
Looks great! Mine's all electric. Wish I had a turboprop in mine, but I had the gear laying around and it fit in the plane nicely. Plane flys very well for such high wing loading. Still have to mix in the right amount of elevator in mine for landing, but otherwise it is great.
I have some video to show, but need to upload it first.

RE: KMP Shorts Tucano
ive just bought this one, im still not sure which motor to use, im thinking fx90/asp90 or ax120 if people think i need the extra power. its not as big as i thought so im leaning towards the 90 at the moment, if balancing the model (cog)is the issue and it requires more weight then maybe the bigger motor is the go. any comments? cheers Greg
