RE: KMP Shorts Tucano
are any of you guys still around? just wondering what servos you guys have used? im thinking on ds821 or the jr ds589 for control surfaces's and hs475 on flaps and hs85 for throttle and retracts. im putting an os91fx in with custom pitts muffler and ma13x8 3b prop, spring air 300 retracts. cheers Greg

Well, sounds heavy, and the nose is very small on this plane, probably a lot of hacking on the cowl. The fuselage is very heavy glass so that should hold up good as far as vibration. The firewall measures 4.75" w by 6.5" h Also note that the cowl tapers to a point on all 4 sides.

You can get the G 20 down to the 36 oz range with a little work and money. A new lighter ign, using a smaller battery, new lite muffler, remove the motor mount and mount the engine right to the firewall.

RE: KMP Shorts Tucano
.... so I´ve read the thread through and now I´ve a lot questions [8D]
[ul][*] What about tailheavy ?[*] Does a 15ccm Surpass have enough power for this aircraft ? [*] Which retracts did you use ? [*] What about the canopy ? Is now a diffrent canopy available ? [*] Any difference pro or contra between KMP Tucano and the Prince Tucano or the Phoenix60 Tucano ?[*] and of course ... would you buy this plane again ?
[/ul]
Thanks a lot and regards from Germany

What method did you use to cut the hole in the underside? Dremel? Looks like it came out nice. I have decided to do the same with mine. After waiting 3 months for a new canopy, because mine cracked and flew off during flight, I don''t want to take it on and off all the time.

Well, I finally got mine back in the air after 3 months waiting for a canopy from KMP. Nice flight, like a maiden flight again, nice smooth landing. After I noticed that the front strut stayed collapsed. The strut housing bent! I am pissed. These are Sierra Giant gear and struts! I have gone thru 2 nose struts. The fist one I take blame for, but the second strut only had 2 flights on it w/greased landings and now it is toast. First and last time I will buy Sierra Giant products!
Thinking about using a robart nose gear.
Just thought I would vent a little.

RE: KMP Shorts Tucano
I don't know if this thread is still active ,but I had my maiden flight and it flew great very fast with an old OS 120 fs 15x8 prop. I used the the included landing gear, big mistake, folded on the 2nd flight. Any China model the first thing is to throw all the hardware out including the so called instructions. It balanced at 105mm with 3/4 oz of lead in tail. Final weight is 10lb. I replaced the landing gear with piano wire and I added more yellow to the bottom wing I found it hard to follow it in flight. This is going to be a fun to fly if you like speed. Fly it like you stole it!

RE: KMP Shorts Tucano
well ive done the 1st and 2nd flights and im very happy, no weight had to be added to balance the plane, i only had to put the battery on top of the fuel tank, i have an os91fx up front turning a ma13x8 3b prop, i made my own in cowl muffler, and i modified the nose retract position so the gear retracts inside the fuz and added a gear door. i also removed all of the formers aft of the servo tray as they where not glued very well, i installed all my own hardware, hs85 on throttle and gear valve, ds589 on all surfaces, ive not used flap yet as the 3b prop slows down well.

How about something around 80 inches too??? We want to have three sizes soon. 90fs (currentmodel), 1.30fs at about 80 inches, and a 108-112 inch Turbo Prop ARF.
Cheers,

Cheers,
Does any ones know if there is on the market a Tucano arf at about 80'' w.s. I know only 2 models ; the KMP 65'' and the Comp-arf 110''.
Some company need to fill the gap. I would be so happy.
Thanks

Nitro Planes has their 65" Tucano in Gray for $130.00, same plane as the KMP. I ordered one last night and it shipped today! Good looking bird..!!

I purchased one from Nitro Models, primed the fuse and controls surfaces today, glossing by the weekend. It was originally the gray version, just love the way the all black RAF version looks.
