Default G26 for the GP Giant Super Sportster?

I just got a Giant SS and am trying to decide on an engine to put on it. Is anyone flying this plane with a G26? If so, what is the performance like? I have a brand new G26 that I would really like to put on it if it will fly well but I can secure a bigger power plant as well if I need to.

Thanks,
Brian

Anyone? Surely someone has flown this plane with a G26.

A G-26 would fly it, but you'd probably like it a lot better with a 32 - 36cc gasser

That's about what I would expect but I honestly don't have a real concept of how much plane a G26 will fly.

A G-26 will fly a lot of plane. I used one last year on the H-9 Giant P-47.

Here is a link to the review with video:

But notice the slow take off speed. It's nice for a scale project like the P-47, but for an aerobatic plane like the SS, you'll probably want more

I was thinking about buyin the same plane with the same engine combo. My other choice might be a 180 Saito just because i like the
way they deliver the power.

Great Planes is pushing the Fuji 32 for that plane but you don't have to look too far to see people having trouble with those Fuji engines

I saw a post where a guy put a G38 in his and then had to beef up the tail feathers like crazy. I thnk anything gasser wise over a 32 is asking for trouble.

Another option is Evolution 26GT2.good vibes about that engine

I love a big saito but I' rather fly forever at $3/ gallon with a ten ounce tank

Is there a plane that would be a good match for this engine and also have spirited performance?

I had originally planned on using a G-26 or an Evo 35 gasser for my Giant Super Sportster, but I found that the fuselage was fairly narrow and that it would be difficult to fit either without really hacking up the cowl even with a Pitts-style muffler for either engine. I opted for an OS 1.60FX mounted horizontally. The Pitts muffler for the OS fits inside the cowl, requiring me to only cut the cowl to clear the cylinder head.

The G-26 with the right prop can make the power of about a 1.20-1.50 four stroke or a 1.08 two stroke. It has good torque and is very good at hauling big airplanes in a scale manner. Spirited is not really what it is all about, but...

You would need a very light 1.20 size airplane. The one that comes to mind is the Tiger 1.20. It has a reputation of being tailheavy and the G-26 would take care of that nicely. Use an APC 17x6 prop. It gives 25% more thrust than a 16x8.

I have a g38 on mine, and it is a very good combonation. I did beef up the tail feathers on mine with guide wires, but I would have done this regardless of what engine I used because the bigger Super Sportsters have a history of tail feathers shredding in flight. I have owned 3 big Super Sportsters (2 90/120 Super Sportsters and 1 Giant Super Sportster) The 90/120's I ran with 4 and 2 stroke glow engines, but they both had the tails reinforced. The Giant Super Sportster has the tail feathers reinforced as well. I have never had a problem with any of my Super Sportsters, but I have seen where those who did have trouble did not use guide wires on the tail feathers. So I would not shy away from using a gas engine on this Plane because you might have to add guide wires. I would do this regardless of engine choice.

Thats good news. There may be a SSP in my future knowing that. Is the one with the G38 the one on the far right with red and white?

Hows the stock landing gear holding out on that plane?
