Default Need ARF for Saito 1.80

Hello All.

I have a 4-stroke Saito 1.80GK that I am going to pull out of a bipe that had an unfortunate landing and is unrepairable because the wing kit has been discontinued.

I really wanted another bipe like the GP Ultimate but from what I understand the Saito 1.80 wouldn't be enough power.

So I'm looking for another ARF that this engine would be a good fit for. I would like a nice acrobatic plane, preferably 3D capable as I want to start learning to fly 3D, hover, etc.

I was looking at either the Great Planes Giant U-Can-Do http://www.greatplanes.com/airplanes/gpma1271.html

or the Hanger 9 Ultra Stick 1.20 http://www.hangar-9.com/Products/Def...ProdID=HAN2325

What do you all think? any other suggestions?

Guy at our field had the GP Ultimate and it would hover with a 180. Seemed like enough power for me. sounded and looked great too.

Seemed like a very powerful engine in my Lanier Ultimate which is roughly the same size; however, I never tried 3D with it.

It is so confusing getting opinions on complete opposite ends of the spectrum. Doesn't seem to be a simple yes or no answer. My preference of course is to get the GP Ultimate.

The Ultra rc giles 202 that OMP still sells would be a good plane for that engine should be in the 10-11 lb range and has a 76'' wing
I think the Katana is even lighter, not sure if ultrarc still has any on ebay or not
the word seems to be the Giles flys better though

The Nitroplanes Ultimate 120 is about the same size as the Lanier/Goldberg, and should be awesome with a 180 in it. The GP is a lot bigger. I have a Moki 210 in my GP Ultimate and it is barely enough for good 3D. Most of them are using DA 50's.

I would say that any plane that comes in at under 13 lbs would have good 3d performance out of the 180.

The Aeroworks 90 Yak also works good with the Saito 180 from what I hear

I considered putting a 180 in my latest yak(70inch) from Peak models it came with a 40cc...............the plane weight is around 7lb 2oz all ready to go without the engine......with a Saito 180 she might be a tick under 9lbs.........NOT sure my fingers would know what to do in a 1/4 throttle hover.......hehehe....the 180 would also fly the EF yak like a dream.

The 1.80 is ideal for the Giant U-Can-Do. There are many threads here where people have put 1.80 in.

I'm about to do the same.

Likewise the Nitroplanes 1.20 will have no problems with the 1.80, especially if you mount it sideways.

I just put a Sait 180 in a Hanger 9 Twist 150. Def a marriage made in heaven. Great plane for only $250.

That engine hauls it around like a rocket

The QQ 73" Yak is a good choice. I have a 1.80 in the 72". This is a very nice set up. It is also a 1st class ARF.
