WOW that looks nice!
I have a NIB one awaiting my attention.
Which canopy/cockpit kits did you use?
What gear did you use.
Did you remove the standard covering?
Did you shorten the wings or elevator?
Please spill the details...
Inquiring minds want to learn.

Hi Opjose, I used the canopy and the cockpit kit from Luke at Zollner Models( he has a website- go back to the warbird threads and do a search for the CPM Hellcat and you kind find TONS of info and mods for the F6 there). Luke is one talented man! I heard that he was going to be doing another run of hellcat parts sometime coming up, but dont know when?He cruises in and out on RCU from time to time- his last name was listed under BentMetal, I think. Luke where you at man??????
Opjose, the gear is Century Jets rotating retracts-you will have to do a few mods in order to get them to clear the spar in the wing.I did not do as alot of others did by fiberglassing the surfaces, I just sanded down the funky blue/purple covering best I could and then primered over that. I didnt shorten the wings or elevator, they are the stock size, altho several people did shorten the wing back on the Hellcat thread I mentioned earlier. My plane also has the rear window that made it into a F6F-3 model, as this info also came from Zollner models- Im telling you-that guy is a GENIOUS! Not pictured but also built for my plane is removable drop tank that mounts under the center section of the wing. I just forgot to put it on for the pictures[sm=spinnyeyes.gif]
Ive got another F6 down in the dungeon( basement) new inthe box, but I think Im gonna make it with just the stock landing gear and use it as one of my beater planes, you know, simpler and less complications with air hookups at the field and all. I hope this helps you some .

Thanks!
Yup I got the Zollner kits sitting in my box of parts for this plane, including the tanks.
I like the idea of sanding it and repriming it as you've done, then airbrushing the paint on.
Who's cockpit kit did you use?
Thanks again.

here's my CMP Hellcat that I am adding the finish touches to. I stripped the covering on the wings and tail surfaces and fiberglassed them. After fiberglassing I added panel lines and rivets. I replaced the existing canopy and added some scale details to the cockpit. I also added Robart retracts. I am powering it with a Saito 1.20. I have a few more features I want to add before spring.

There's a very large post in the Warbirds section on this CMP hellcat. One of the contributors to that thread made some scale features for this plane and thse covers are one. luke (also made the canopy and a drop tank which I don't have mounted as yet. The wheel covers in my picture are scotch taped on in these photos ( notice I have them on backwards, oops). I'm changing the retracts to Robart and when I do I will mount them permanently. I have quite a bit left to do on this plane (like replacing the blue tail wheel) but I wanted to post some pictures of my progress.

Some very nice planes here, you can slap them together to fly or take some time and have a very unique and distinctive bird.
