Regardless of what you hear in the news Americans aren't into fair distribution.

PA Ben - that might be the best airplane buy that you'll make all year. Enjoy it!! It has certainly turned into one of my favorites!!

i have now bitten the bullet and decided to strip my unflown pawnee and finish it to a more scale appearance, can anyone shed some light as to whether the wing struts are functional or sust for looks, not sure whether it would be possible to make a few modifications to make this model look more like the piper pa36 brave, could be fun(or disatrous)finding out

IMHO, the struts are funtional. The wing has two short CF tubes and one 4-40 screw retaining the wing panels other than the struts.

Well i have stripped the pawnee, came off rather easy!!There is a company near by who makes modifications etc to model aircraft or say they do so i took it upon myself to mail them for a bit of advice, intersted to see what they say regarding my intentions,we shall see. They may even shed a bit of light on the struts as the brave doesn't have them.Seeing that this appears to be the only cropduster available i'm kind of limited, nothing like a challenge!!

Well, there's now the RC Guys Cessna AgWagon. Not sure if it's available across the pond, but you can take a look at it on the RC Guys website.

cheese - the struts on the H9 and the full size Pawnee are functional. You can keep them off if you want, but don't be surprised if your wings fold up in flight. Unless you plan to lengthen the wing tubes a long way in to the wing, keep the struts on.

I ran into my buddy last night that I
helped with his crop dusting business
when I was in college. He used a Hiller
"G" model to do his spraying while I worked
for him. But the first time I met him he
was recovering his Ag plane to help fund
the new whirly-bird. I asked Gerald which
ag plane he had & he said it was a Pawnee.

I told him about my Arf & he wanted to know
when I was going to fly it again.

My experiences with him & my RC birds, I
know were a huge factor in helping to maintain
my dream of getting my pilot's license. My dad
started that dream when I was just six years old
by getting me my first airplane ride with one
of his friends. I achieved my goal six years ago,
and I am now building my own full size home
built, as well.

Always share the gift of flight with young
people. Sadly, I will never be able to share
that dream with my father by taking him for
a ride, as his health is declining rapidly. I am,
however, passing this dream on to my son,
who has just turned 3.

Sorry to wax sentimental...

Send pics of your homebuilt progress. I'll bet that's involving. Also, will you take your son up when he turn's six? If so...build that thing AIRWORTHY to the max! Don't cut any corners!

I now have over 30 flights on the Pawnee and its been an outstanding vehicle and flies as good as any aircraft of the type I have ever flown. Honest to a fault and I love racking it through the maneuvers right on the deck. Mine is electric with an Eflite 46 on 5 cells of 3850s swinging a Zinger 14/6-10 wood prop. All up weight is slightly over 8 poiunds. If you can lay your hands on one get it. Just a nice aircraft with an excellent finish and very well thought out. Recently flew with two other friends at the Texoma meet and had a blast playing chase around the field. ed

Mine was easy to see as it was the only one with a pilot in the crewstation! No problem at all as the other two gentlemen were seasoned and excellent pilots themselves. We took off at 1 second intervals and just had a lazy but fun flight rolling and looping around the big Texas sky. Touch and goes were also a hoot as we tried to hold spacing and positions for the touch and goes. One thing was to never look away from your ship while flying but that we all know. As Tom said above there was 5 vehicles there but 2 had not flown and the wind was about 12 to 15 knots crosswind most of day. You just had to be careful and mindful of your partners positions at all times. Spotters were also a great help. ed

Mike

Here is a link to the site flown at for the Texoma event north of Dallas Texas. This was the first time for me at that particular site. It really was a great site well off the beaten path but the crew that serves the field did a great job and it was a hoot to fly from. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=833769 .

I notice the name and your homesite. I spent a tour of duty (4 years) for Lockheed Martin during the first Gulf War at Hill AFB in Ogden and loved the whole area. Quite a bit different from the Dallas/Ft Worth Area I was raised in. Lived in Roy and then South Weber for the last two years. Momma wanted to come back to Tejas but I was happy as a lark myself. She won and I lost but we had a great time and about 80 percent of my old crew are still there. ed

Hi there guys sorry for the late reply but here are some pics of the tow hook setup on my hanger 9 Pawnee the top loop is a bent over split pin and the sliding pin is 4-40 rod sliding in a brass tube. on the back side of the former is a 3mm light ply former to help transfer loads and infront is some laminations of 9mm 5 ply and epoxided into place. The servo mounted at the bottom is an old Hitech HS 945mg and will be run on 6 volt. Pretty easy fit really and plenty strong enough!!

just to give you an idea the last pic is of a sailplane I have been heavily campaining for the last 3 years it's a 40% Schweizer 1-26 of all glass construction and 100% scratch built buy me.. I am now finishing off a 40% Schweizer 1-30 tug and a 33% Cessna 150 tug.

cheers Rossco

Hi,

How did you get on with cog, I've got the Power 46 with 5 cell 4270. Even with 4 cell 3700 it's nose heavy.

Did you add a bit of weight to the tail?

Regards,

Jason

Mine is nose heavy. I've electrified it. Not sure of AUW but if under the recommended will add some to the tail.

I saw a copy of this somewhere on another plane and decided that it would look good - always nice to get a laugh.

Not sure if you saw it in my agwagon, my pilot is already studying for about 3 years.. ;-)

And not afraid to get lost either...

rc-cropduster, you are right, I saw it from your pictures. I didn't know who to give credit to, but I knew that I couldn't say that I thought of it myself. Thanks for giving me the idea, it tends to draw a few laughs at the flying field.

Ok,
Where do you get the Dummies foldout
& the maps? Do you print them? If so,
where do you get the files?

I only have one flight on my Pawnee,
from a few weeks ago. Waiting on
good weekend weather....

I made my Dummies off the computer. Just find a drawing of a Dummies Cover, use notebook to make some changes and print. I had to play with the font size and print size until it was what I wanted. I printed in B&W and used a yellow highlighter for my backround color. The map should not be a problem either.
