I'm still waiting on mine. As of Monday mine hadn't shipped according to my LHS. I'm looking forward to see what you have to say about yours.

RE: Hangar 9 40 Size Piper Pawnee!!!
Got mine in and rushed it together yesterday flew it today. Way too nice, scale flying perfect. Can't ask for better plane. Just wish it was the red and white color scheme or if they would actually come out with it having a weathered spray stain look to it. Oh well, can't have it all. I have a supertiger 90 2 stroke on mine and it will go. Will be adding tow realease hook for glider next.

The Pawnee is real nice, lot of the work (?) is already done, the landing gear already has flat spots ground on it for the wheel collars, all of the servo horns are mounted. covering is typical Hangar 9, nicer than I could have done. I've got the gear mounted, tail glued on, tail wheel done, and I'm starting on the servos for the ailerons and flaps. I'm sure everyone will pass me on the build. I have two speeds, dead slow and full stop. I just enjoy putting along on my build. Also just put a long when I fly. I will answer any question I can, and will probley have a few of my own.
Take care,
Randy

Just got mine a few hours ago - but I had a club meeting to go to, so I start the build tomorrow!! At least I had a show and tell plane I'm putting my Magnum .80 4S in the front. Now to figure out all my detailing. Maybe even lights!!!
Smthlndr - give up some details, i.e. any problems building, actual flying, etc.. Give us the dirt

Well, as I continue along on my build (?) assemble is closer. The ailerons and flaps are already hinged from the factory with CA hinges, also the elevators are already hinged with CA hinges. What is everyone's thoughts on CA hinges? I have always used Du-Bro nylon pinned hinges. Should I cut out the CA's or stay with them.
Thanks,
Randy

I can tell you guys right now, That "spot-welded" landing gear is not going to hold up. Beautiful plane, but it's a shame to see it belly in and scuff the be-jeebers out of the bottom. I know, I know, I heard my comments shot down before, but, believe me on this one, that gear WILL fail. Off to the LHS and buy up a few lenghts of 3/16 wire. Wrap where they join with telephone wire then solder, epoxy paint it, re-install. Really, this is too nice of a plane to have something happen to it. Also, do any of you get the impression this is not a 40 size ?....... More of a 60-90 ?...... Saito .100 is needed for this at 4500' altitude. Comments.... MM

MormanMike - I tend to agree with you on the landing gear. I'll have to take a look at it tonight when I get started. If the performance from my .80 is not enough, I still have a .90 that I can hang on it. Since I'm only at about 550', I don't worry so much about the altitude. But having a cub wing, it really should not have to be way over-powered.

Or early May or mid June......[:@][:@] Am I correct in thinking that this speaks volumes about the popularity of this plane?? Making a prediction right now....if it's true that the plane IS that popular, a 108'' 1/4 scale could be next. Any takers? The betting line starts here......[>:]

RE: Hangar 9 40 Size Piper Pawnee!!!
Plane balanced out a little nose heavy with the 90 2 stroke but it is better than tail heavy and under powered. It flies great the only draw back i have with the 90 is you need more speed landing it seems. But about the landing gear thing it was a bit windy this morning when flying and it or may i say i flew it in sort of bumpy and the gear did bend not broke. I just bent it back to shape and took on more flying. I think it will be strong enough and not break if it can bend with a 90 on it. But be realistic landing gear will not bend or break if you land right and are in control of the plane. I am working on my daughters barbie doll as pilot now LOL. Hope she don't find out. LOL. I for see a larger scale of a crop duster very soon to be featured. Mark my word as an ARF maybe 50cc, 1/3 scale or larger. Just watch!! What would really put this plane out though would be an AT-502 airtractor. !/4 to 1/3 scale ARF.

MM,
Will a Saito 100 fit in the cowling without having to butcher it up too badly? Mine is supposed to arrive today and I have a Saito 100 which need a home, hate to have to a buy another smaller engine for this bird, when the other is not being used.

And I say:
See post #116 for the guy who made that prediction first ![sm=lol.gif][sm=lol.gif] 1/4 scale possibly. 1/3 scale? I highly doubt it. Most ARF makers won't cross that line unless it's an extremely popular plane. i.e. caps, edges, (everyone) cub *Modeltech & World Models), etc. Alot of my flying buddies would love to show off a huge 1/3 scale plane at the field but hate the fact that it's so big to fit in their little compact car or pickup (see gas prices lately?[:'(][:@]). I think there's alot of things in play that prevents larger ARF from being offered.

Correct MM,
The way the economy is now the people that is spending money on planes that you only control to a certain extent the companies could care less what it takes to haul them in. Gas or no gas they see it as if you can afford to play you can afford to pay. Anyways the shops around here do. I could see a 1/3 sale arf kit coming out before i could see myself giving 8500.00 upwards for an aerobatic plane. I have seen some have like racks bult on top of cars to go to the fields. My opinion a J3 cub that is a 50% never crossed my mind. Well, look what has arrived by BillHempel. It all has to do with the sneek peek effect. I would be willing to bet there are people out there more than thought of that would do anything to have a 1/3 or even 50% scale ag plane. Alot would be the ag pilots their self i'm sure. I would buy one in a heartbeat. I have had 3 agplanes remote control and by far is this pawnee the best flying one.
Off to the hangar i go good night.

I'm glad to hear you've had Ag. planes and this one flys good. Thanks on balance. If Tower specs are close the ST weighs about 4oz more with muff than my 4stoke so it should be easy to relocate battery for balance.Don't know if mine is in this first shipment but it's on order.Guess I'll have to watch you guys and learn.
