tkg, does the Yak have a good gear to fuselage mounting system or do you have to put the plywood back in after every rough field landing? The field I fly at is not the smoothest grass field in the country, for example, the aeroworks yak 120 with anything other than a slow perfect landing will take the gear out. How do you rate the Seagull Yak in the grassy field world?

THE 16X6 APC seems to be the prop of choice so far, I would like to try a 17x4. The 16.5x5W APC is perfect for the G26, 9100 rpm.

I tryed the 16x4w and did get an increase in rpm up to 9220, not the 98000 that I was expecting. Hot sure what to think on this one.

tkg, I am in the assembly process with the Seagull Yak and G20ei. As I am at sea level I will stay with the stock exhaust and will be using a 16x4W. What servos did you use, I have some 5985's left over from a 30% wreck and may use them. I did your mod on the canopy removing all that useless weight. It should be ready to maiden in a couple of days.

Have a seagull yak with the saito 100 and have flown it about 75 times with no problems with the landing gear. My 540 edge(seagull)had to beef upthe landing gear as a result of poor landing on my part. I fly on grass.

Rgrant89,
How would describe the vertical performance of your Ultra Stick 120 Lite with the G20? What prop are you using on the motor. The reason I'm asking is my brother just bought an Ultra Stick 120 Lite and he is considering putting his G20 in it, but all we've heard lately is that vertical performance will be marginal. His other motor of choice is an Enya 165 4-stroke. I had a Saito 180 in mine and that was WAY TOO MUCH motor, and I've also seen one fly with a 3W28 in it and that plane was incredible.
Additional input from others is more than welcome as well. FYI, My brother and I fly at sea level.
Thanks

The 20 will fly the USL just fine, with a 16x4W it will hover, I have also tryed a 16x6 but the 16x4 pulled a little better, when the 20 is broke in it will rip the prop. I went with flaps with crow setup on the Tx. The 20 will do 10-12 minutes on 4 oz of gas so do not load it down with fuel. I use a 10oz heli tank mounted on the cg so there is no cg change as fuel burns off.

Rgrant89,
Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it. Am I correct in assuming you put the ingition module where the tank was supposed to go? Did you have to move the elevator and rudder servos to the rear of the plane in order to ballance the plane?
Would it be possible for you to take some pictures of the front of your plane and the area under the wing and post them here? I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks again for the help.

The servos go in their normal spots, the fuel tank, I used a 10 oz heli tank at the cg, the ignition box and ignition battery lay side by side using velcro where the tank would usually go normally go. The Rx battery is on the rear tray and the Rx is velcroed to the bottom side of the wing mounting surface. I have tryed to upload pics to no avail.

TKG, thanks, the instructions said 7-8 cm from the ledging edge at the wing tip, that appeared to me to be too far to the rear, the tube sounds good.
