Have anyone had an issue with the stock motor mount? I'm putting a OS75AX on mine, and the engine sits at the edge of the mount,
all the way forward. I'm wondering if using a heavier and longer adjustable type mount maight be better.

My goodness Queasy, haven't you done the Maiden Flight yet? The stock mount works fine for my heavy Magnum .91 FS and it sits way out at the end and shakes like a Model A Ford also. You are missing some real fun with this plane so get going and finish that thing and put it the air. Let us know how it goes.

I always use the quick connect and have never had one fail. I now have around 40 flights on my pulse powered with an Os 91 fx using a 15x8 3 blade prop. flies awesome.
The bolt on tail works great, a little blue lock tite goes a long way.

Hi Wingspan:
Your Pulse XT looks great ! Also looks like you're using a Tower muffler instead of the OS. Do you like it better? Did you keep the H9 2.75 wheels for the grass? I'm thinking of going to 3" or even 3.75's.

We have a blacktop runway but a big grassy area to taxi out to get to the runway from the pits. I put 3" wheels on my pulse and it took care of all of the nose over tendecies during taxi (on grass).

You won't regret if you go to 3" wheels...

I couldn't resist adding to this post, as I had a Pulse XT 60 until a few weeks ago (another story).

I have only been flying a year (tells the story), and this was by far my favorite plane. My pulse flew with an Exceed Monster 60 ($60), a Volcano series 80 amp motor control ($80), and two 3s 4000mah 10c lipo's in series from TrueRc.com ($55 each). Using a 15/6 prop, it would climb untill I stopped it, had almost 10 minutes flying time, had good prop to ground clearance, and very nice flying speed.

I was going to replace it right away, but can't find them anywhere. They are also somewhat more expensive than the one I purchased, but that probably won't stop me from getting another one. Does anyone know where I might find one?

WHAT A HOBBY!!!!

They've been on back order since August. Every month Horizon pushes the delivery out another month. I cancelled my order in September when they announced they were not going to honor the BO price (which they have since changed their minds on) and got the Sig by UPS two days after placing the order with Tower.

I have had my PULSE 60 since July and have flown it many times. The only problem I have is the covering job. The covering is not folded over at the edges. This causes the covering to lift and I am constantly resealing the covering. I am flying the plane with a Magnum 90 4c in the Los Angles area. I have included some pictures of the plane in flight.

Great pix Squaredancer! Looks like you fitted oversize wheels to yours. What size are you using?

The plane is stock. The wheels are the ones that came with the plane. The only modification I did was to reinforce the motor mount and the landing gear mount.

Those are 2 areas that require attention. How did you reinforce them?

Hi Kenny
I used triangle stock. That seemed to do the trick.

Any chance of a picture or two of the reinforcement and did you use balsa, light ply, or something else? I'm pretty new to the hobby and am not a builder.

There is already some triangle stock reinforcing the firewall. I added more triangle stock around the inside of the fire wall and around the landing gear box. I used CA to glue in the supports. The ca is absorbed into the wood and also helps to strengthen the area. I cannot take pictures without some disassembly. Hope this helps.

I had the elevator opposite the control horn come off in flight, causing a destructive crash. I am not sure if the hinges gave way first or the metal rod broke off. Since the hinges come preglued, to be safe run in some thin Ca and check out the metal connecting rod. Hanger 9 was not very interested in my problem.

Guys,

I am currently flying the Pulse XT 25e and looking to get into the Pulse 40 or 60. Should I go right into the 60 and pass on the 40? I have not flown anything larger then a 25 size. The wing span on the three are 52", 60" and 70" respectively. What's the downside of going right to the 60? Other then cost.

Thanks!

PS - My goal is fly larger size planes.

Go with the Pulse XT 60. Mine flew almost as easy as my electristar trainer does. I used an Exceed MonsterPower 60 motor with two 3s 4000Mah lipo's in series and a 15x6 prop. It would vertical at least 600 feet. That's where I usually leveled off. Unfortunately I lost it, but have another on the way, due in a couple of days. Can't wait!!!
