Sorry, Pete, I cannot enlighten you further on the Stearman that went in. And while there were a few accidents and incidents, I felt that all in all, problems were few.
My D 7 indeed DOES still fly on the Evolution 61 NX. Those motors as you know do not like enclosed cowls, but once I opened the cowl to full airflow and propped down from 13/6 to 12/6, I found the sweet spot and she does just fine. I mistakenly bought a 12/4 thinking I was flying an 11 inch and hoping to put the bigger diameter on, then found that I was already flying a 12 inch, so I want to try a 13/4 to see if it does OK with that. I did put a flight on the 12/4, but found performance sluggish to say the least and quickly returned to the 12/6.
My Camel is equipped with an OS 61 FX and it handles a 13/6 without a problem. Of course, it is less enclosed and runs the stock muffler too.
Other then that, I am taking a day at home in the AC and working on my scratch built (not by me, obviously! LOL!) DR 1 and hope to test fly it tomorrow. Also working on my Hangar 9 Taylorcraft, which is the old style with the bigger one piece wing. I wish I was the ''building dynamo'' some people are, but between my achy back and shoulders and my own natural laid backness, progress is slow.
