Kangke/Super Kraft CAP 232/60
Hey Kangke Fans,
I have just received my new CAP 232/60 today and man is she beautiful! I have an OS 91 FX with a Slimline pitts muffler for power and I will be guiding her with a Futaba T6XAS transmitter.
Could some of you guys out there who have experience with this airplane give me some assembly and set-up tips, please? I have read several positive threads about this airplane that convinced me that I needed one too.
Thanks, Tom

Hello Paul,
I'm glad to hear from you and hope your airplane arrives soon. My son and I selected the Super Kraft Cap to replace a H9 Sport Cap we lost in a crash two weeks ago (airframe totaled, but expensive items survived). We learned much about aerobatics with that plane, but it was a crude representation of a CAP 232.
Keep in touch on this thread and maybe we could share building and flying experiences.
Tom
P.S. Are you an Air Force veteran? I am an active and reserve veteran of 21 years-Msgt.

Just make sure you get the wing mated together good and the tail feathers on nice and straight. I did not use the included hardware that came with mine but I think they have improved it now. The 91 FX will give you all the power you need.

Start looking for replacement gear. The mains will not withstand anything but a feather landing-unless they've upgraded them.
Pull-pull the rudder if you can.
Try to move the servo tray back before installing the radio gear. It'll make it much easier to install the tank and possibly allow for better CG placement.
Yep, great looking airplane!
Good Luck,
Jeff

Hey Tom,
Does your engine fit inside the cowling?
And what is the width of the plane at the firewall?
And as far as the landing gear, Jazzy were you flying on cement or grass?

The 91 FX will fit inside the cowl with only holes needed for the glow plug, needles, and exhaust/air outlet. You will need to either notch the motor mount or use an exhaust extension to use the slimline pitts style. I ground a notch in the mount.
The landing gear held up well for me on both grass and asphalt. This is one easy landing cap, and with a handle like "bentgear" I should know.

With a Mag 1.08 and a slimline Pitts mine came in at ~9lbs. Thus the reason for bending gear on grass. I'd imagine they'd be worse on pavement.
BTW, the 1.08 fit in the cowl nicely with just a little room to spare.
Gear? No, I haven't found any replacements yet. I'm about to install the gear from a friend's demolished Lazer.

Hello JoeyM,
Looking over my manual, they say to mark from the leading edge of the wing 3" and another mark at 3 1/2". The 1/2 inch area between the marks denotes the cg range.

Hey Guys,
I've put a few together for other Club members and they are nice plane, very well built. As far as the cowl goes, you can fit a small block chevy into a Cap232 cowl, they are huge, which makes it nice. The best ones I put together had 120 4-strokes on them, which required some nose weight also, but not as much as the 2-cycle counterpart. I have a 60 size Cap of my own that I can't get to yet, but I plan on using a 120 4-cycle in mine. Currently, I am swamped with SuperKraft models for assembly, they are very nice well built models and are really coming on around this area. Right now I am assembling two Laser2000, one with a Fuji 50, and one with a Poulan 60 (conversion, what a monster on performance), also a 120 size Cap232 with a 120 GMS. I do replace some hardware but not all, depends on the what the operator wants. Haven't had any complaint about the landing gear, yet.

I put a saito 150 in this plane--anyone else have this setup?--with this engine---mine seemed to balance on the money--did have to add some weight for the lateral balance though.........joe

150????
What the --------- is going on?
First we overpower the airplanes then we add servos in the tail
They can still hover with the smaller engines... what is going on?
this would probably be 300$ bucks more if you
had the 150 and the two tail servos.
the O.S. 91 can hover the bird so why are we so faddish and like to spend so much money? the real Cap 232 doesn't have the power this plane would have with a 150 and every time you do a setup like this you wind up always landing hot... Why are people like this, why?

The servos do not go in the tail of the 60 size Cap from SuperKraft. And the statement was made in an earlier post that, much nose weight was needed to balance this model with a 90 size, 2-cycle. I assembled one for a club member and put a GMS.76 on it, it required 7.5oz. of nose weight to balance. So I think the line of thinking hear is, if it needs that weight to balance why not engine instead of dead lead. I've flown the plane with a GMS.76, and one with a OS120 4-cycle, neither land hot because they weight the same.
Besides it's not your money, we'll spend it how we like.

Tim, I have to agree with Paul. Putting a 91 FX in the nose does cause you to add nose weight to get it to the book specs, then after you fly it you start pulling all the weight off to get it to perform at its max. Lighter flies better.
