That is a good question. I was thinking of posting a pic of the cylinder showing the ports. If I remember correctly it has six ports. I do not have the pictures with me now. I will post some later on for you to see.
The internal quality of the cylinder as well as of the ports is smooth and crisp (as I can recall). As I can remember the head has very good casting and machining. So far I am very pleased with the weight and quality. I have not run the engine yet, but based upon what I have seen from comments posted from overseas sites the engine seems to be powerful.
The head looks similar to a 60cc ZDZ engine except for one of the transfer ports on the ZDZ looks bigger (that is my opinion). But then most engines in our hobby look similar one way or another.
Longevity nobody knows yet as it is a new engine. Most likely since this engine came out of Shen Ping’s (Tomy RC) factory it should be at least as good as the SPE 40 (which I have two). I personally believe that the MT-57 should be of better quality (as I can judge from what I see so far).

If thats a MT57, it doesn't look anything at all like the MT57 that TOMYRC posted here on RCU in the New Products column a few months ago.

If you have any doubt about what I said ... take a look at this MT-57 that TOMYRC posted in the new products column a few months ago . Looks nothing at all like the MT-57 you have. I did find yours as well ... but makes my wonder why he has two different engines and both called MT-57? http://www.rcuniverse.com/product_gu...Engine_id=1617
The one in this link he calls the MT-57 Bullly

These are both the MT-57. I speak to Tomy RC on the phone regularly. The one in the picture that you referred me to (in the link) is the European version. The European version is offered in a cast body under the “Bully†marking. The US version is offered in a CNC aluminum version and marketed under the “CN†name.
The cast version is heavier in compared to the CNC. Tomy’s though is that the Europeans do not prefer CNC casing like we do here in the U.S.
So I guess we are both right in that respect because what you showed in the link is an MT-57 Bully and what I posted earlier is as well an MT-57 but a CN version. The difference is that each version is meant to be distributed in different markets. The piston, crank, connecting rod, and cylinder head are the same for both versions. They differ in the casing that encloses the crank. Now it could be that Tomy decided to test the US market to see how it responds to the Bully version. That is my best guess. I can try to find out later on what the deal is with that.
I hope this helps

RE: Get'em while they last.. Lanier Extra 94" for $300!
I got one of the lanier extra 330 94" UPS came last friday and I was not home, I really don't need this plane do to, too many planes in my hangar, but the other day I was surfing towerhobbies, and the lanier extra was 799.00 wich for a 33% is normal, but then next day was 299.00 and i said to hell with the sayvings account, and got one.
I got a extra 330 KMP a extremefly reject, this plane is so beautiful to fly 3D with a DA-50 every one in my fiel is jealous.
So I got the extra from lanier and planing to install a zdz100 on it. Hope the cowl take it. I will take pictures tomorrow and posted for you guys.

A DA85! That'll be a rocket.
I have two, an Extra and Edge, a !00cc twin with 80cc power, should fly it nice and I was thinking of picking up another MT57, it depends on how my testing goes today on the MT57 which I put in a Lanier 87" Yak last night. If I can get 35 pounds of thrust I think I'll used the MT57.

soarrich,
I have the lanier Yak 87" with an Evolution 58/pitts muffler. It's turning a 24x8 MSC at 6100... The Yak weighs 20lbs... Stock, without wheelpants. Pullout of hover is ok. It could be better... Flying a great, very solid, and 3d's well.

I wish mine looked that good. The guy I bought mine from a guy that bought a graphics cutter it must have about a pound of graphics on it because it weighs 21 1/2 pounds, but I do have 2 6v 2400 NiCads. I just tested my MT57 today, I'm getting 30 pounds of thrust so it should do ok, my friend had a DA50 and it just overed. I have a Ysk and Sukhoi that's as big 87", but weigh 16 1/2 pounds. I'm hoping the 94 inchers come out at 21 pounds, they should fly great.

Anybody have any pictures of it yet?? Does it actually look like the Tower Hobbies photo (it's not even shown on the old Lanier R/C site)???
Regards, Dave
