I think what is happening is Tower is just blowing them out. Great Planes, which is Tower, bought Lanier, they aren't going to be making these anymore, Tower aims at the guy in the hobby less than two years, they don't cater to guys that have been in the hobby for 30 years, there aren't enough of us to matter.
Look at their discontinued big planes:

I hope I'm wrong, because their big planes are well built and a good value.

You really do have to be careful about some of these discounts. You could end up paying $300.00 and get a deal, only to see the price go down to $250.00, with no price protection, just before they sell out. You get left holding the bag if you buy too early. This is a lot like playing the stock or commodities market.

I thought about it earlier, and maybe I didn't do too bad on a Citabria purchase. I mean, I paid $15.00 more for it, but at least it's in my hands now. At this point, I may consider an extra airframe to insure I can keep up with long-term maintenance. That is, as long as I can get it before they sell out...

RE: Get'em while they last.. Lanier Extra 94" for $300!
I bought a used 87" Lanier Yak 54 from a friend that had a DA50 in it, it was marginal, that why he sold it to me. It's not marginal now, I put a LS Pro 100cc twin in it, but it is a little portly. My friend wants me to throw my MT57 in it to see how it preforms. I conflicted on what to do, I really want to put it in one of my 94 inchers, because I'd like to start with a clean slate, and I'm putting a header tuned pipe combo on the MT57 to make it KING KONG.

put the 100 in the 94" put the 57 in the 87 seems like the natural choice to me.dont do what i have have done. i started with a engine to big .then built the next plane with the engine my last plane needed.and so on and so on .now i have a bunch of planes that would all work better if i swaped all the engines. what a nightmare.never have the right engine when you need it.and i hate redoos.

I talked the importer of a new engine line from China at the Perry trade show 3 weeks ago, (Won't name him and start a bashing war) ... and he said he tested, for consideration of being a distributor, ... TOMYRC's MT57, and that it didn't do as good as a DL50 but with an additional weight penalty to boot.

i could do thoes numbers with dl and zinger for sure.the dl will turn 24x8 when broken in xoar. not the best prop thow. i hear some guys using 24x8 to smoothen throttle responce in a hover.i like 23x8 xoar

I would recommend anyone considering putting a 57cc or any similar engine on one of the Lanier 94" ARFs to take a look at this YouTube video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6ods3dXRMA This is the 87" Lanier Yak flying with a 3W80xi 80cc engine. This combo seems made for each other. It is not wildly overpowered and in fact, its not even overpowered. I hope this will help someone make an informed decision about what will be necessary to get satisfactory performance from the larger 94" versions. The 94" Laniers will need at least a 80cc engine to be 3D capable in my opinion. It will no doubt handle a 100cc quite easily and I plan to put a 100cc in my own 94" Yak. They'll fly on less, but I wouldn't expect any great thrills.

Just ordered one. I don't need it but for $299.00 who can complain.
Anyone have some pics? Or has anyone got one yet? Love to see some pics and overall impressions.
I can hear the wife now...

RE: Get'em while they last.. Lanier Extra 94" for $300!
Hello Guys I just purchased an MT-57 yesterday from wildharerc and I am installing it in a 28% wildharerc EXTRA 300. This engine will be tested for performance, reliability. Each run will be documented along with the changing behavior of the engine. Tom at wildharerc is considering selling this engine as well so since he was nice enough to provide me with an engine I will post my efforts on this thread.
So far the engine seems to be of great quality. The casting is done right, the reed is a four piece spilt āVā, it has a walbro carburetor, the CNC on the casing is of excellent quality and the muffler is not bad at all considering that it comes with the engine. In general, the engine is very light and built well. My only problem with the muffler is that it is a bit big on to the side in compare to a pits or a canister (where the side clearance is not an issue at all). The cowling had to be cut a bit more in order to make the entire package fit.
If you like I can post some pictures of the installation, set up and later of the flying performance. I figure that some out there would like to learn more about this engine.
