Very Nice. I have a couple pics of some assembly and details I added to the underside. I will try to post them. Next week I will take some assembled photos.

Thank you, the shop is small but functional, the hard part is trying to keep it organized . The underside of the plane is all white so something has to be done to help keep orientation. The only complaints I have about the plane are weak landing gear and lack of underside graphics other than that I think the Seagull Planes are a great bargin.

Just got my 260 the other day. Been looking for a first gasser and saw this thread and took the plunge after reading the favourable reviews. Looking at sticking a DLE 30 in her. My first impression is to go with the CA hinges in the wings and elevator but will stick pin hinges in the rudder because of the greater deflections. Will replace the stock control horns with longer versions as the originals are far too short. There is no way they can line up on the hinge line. Also considering changing the colour of the underside for better orientation. Pin and epoxy the engine box. Also noted the standoffs that come with the DLE 30 place the drive hub 12mm further out from the firewall so considering replacing them with 50 mm standoffs. Any build suggestions welcomed.
Cheers, Rick

Dle just came out with a 35 which has more power and rear exhaust for just a few bucks more. I did not use any factory horns or links but I did use the ca hinges and so far they have been fine. I used 1 life battery 3200 mah for both reciever and ignition with a Wike RC IBEF. This helped keep the weight down on the build and has worked perfect so far.

Matt,
I see you have not used the stock fuel tank. What size tank did you install and what flight times are you looking at ?
cheers, Rick

I used a Dubro 14 oz tank. I set a timer for 12 minutes and have at least 1/3 tank left at end of flight, so I think I could fly 15-18 minutes with a small safety margine.

Hey folks,
I just bought one of these with a PTE-36r in it and have been looking for some kind of authoritative reference on alignment of the motor. The guy who built this has the motor angled to the left and up (looking from the front to the back of the fuse. I've had one guy tell me that is the exact opposite of what it should be. Yes? No? Maybe?

A little right thrust seems to counteract torque or P-factor and is common. To me, downthrust depends on the way it flies ( what happens on throttle transition/level vs. inverted and other stuff).

Finished my Extra 260 with a DLE35ra except the rudder just now. Still fiddling with the rudder cable. Target was to get her done within 11# . Seems doable as it was just about 10# without some of the electronics. Intent to maiden with a 18x8 (for breakin) 3D prop this weekend hopefully.

I just purchased a DLE30 as the 35 was a extra hundred dollars for 5cc! Thinking on going nano tech 3.0 - 7.4 battery with reg and have Power HD 1218 HV TG still waiting for motor to arrive and not sure what reg I am going with, have a 18x6, 18x8, 19x8 Zoar after run in ejected pilot as no need for plane as he was over weight lol

The DLE-30 will pull the Seagull Extra around fine for sport aerobatics and light 3d. These extras were designed with the old school build technology and they are built to last in comparison to the newer 3d birds. I really loved my Extra. I survived many and I mean many unintentional landings. The airframe is certainly strong enough for a 50cc. You'll probably need to throw a couple A123's in the tail to get it to balance. The tail moment is relatively short.

Just completed my Seagull Extra. Put a Valley View 40cc twin in it. Dry weight is 11# 5oz. Flys great but seems very tail heavy with the dry CG at 9cm. Manual calls for CG of 8.5 to 9.5 back from the leading edge at the wing tips. What flying CG are you using to get the balance neutral when flying.
