Default Hanger 9 Alpha 40 ARF

I'm looking at getting a hanger 9 alpha 40 ARF and i already have a magnum xl .52 RFS four stroke would this be enough engine for this plane and using 11 x 6 ma wood props i used on my other trainer which used to be a GP PT-40 kit i built and by the way was a real good trainer long story but anyway would this combo work with the alpha 40?

more then enough
If you have already done the trainer thing why not go for the Arrow flys much better and is more fun while still being a trainer type plane

Well i flew the GP PT-40 trainer about 5 times and i can fly it very well but i haven't took off or landed by myself so i need a little more training time and was thinking the hanger 9 alpha 40 would be enough to finish my training on.

Ok then your engine will be a little light for the Alpha it would fly it but marginal

Find yourself an inexpensive .40-.46 2 stoke engine. I like the OS .40 FP myself. A .46 to .52 would give you really good performance, but the.40 are a great engine for the Alpha. They will fly the Alpha pretty well with a 10X6 to 10X7 2 blade prop. I would go with the Master Airscrew - they really can take a pretty good hit and not break. I like the Evolution engine that come with the ARF package, but sometimes, they have no mid-range performance. I swapped out an Evo with a .40FP on one of my student's Alpha and the plane does really great.

Yes it would be more then enough for your plane. The evalution engine it comes with is less powerful. Even though it wold work I would recommend geting a cheap 2 stroke and save the 4 stroke for a future scale model.

I would get the Arrow instead of the Alpha. I learned on the Arrow and with the help of an instructor you will be happy that you got it instead. My dad got the Alpha and after the first week he was flying my Arrow all the time because he could do more stuff with it.

Fly what your comfortable with.
