RE: BH T-28 Assembly
Fuel tank is complete and installed sort of. Will pull it out and take the photos for you. I like to use a two line and Dubro filler, so I melted shut the fill line. I use Airtronics radios and they have had the kill button on the 6 and 8000 models since their inception. I found using a fuel dot, if you don't close the throttle trim all the way you get fuel flow from the carb throat. Using the button closes off the throttle, when the engine dies releasing the button returns the throttle to the low idle position.
Nice gift, Dremel is always helpful. I took a couple of photos of the cowl and how I am cutting out for the engine and exhaust. Will post later

RE: BH T-28 Assembly
Awesome. Thanks JimO. I am hopefully going to get the plane built this week. I have been sooooooooooo dang busy it is killing me. Nothing worse than pulling into the garage everyday and seeing that big box sitting on my work bench and it not being together. Oh well, I guess worse case scenario is that I didn't have one of these at all. LOL... Looking forward to the pics.

JimO what size extensions did you use for the servos on the wings? and do you need 2 Y- extensions? I don't see anything in the manual. I am ignorant to anything outside of the standard trainer minus an extension on the aileron servo. Thanks for any help.

HD, you'll probably need 2 'Y" extensions. One for the ailerons which will be plugged into one channel and another for the flaps which will be plugged into another channel. As far as size, get one just large enough to join them at the wing, I'm assuming a 6in would work fine. Then just depending on the length you would need to be able to connect the extension running from the rx to the "Y" extensions, I would again a 6in servo extension would work.

Thank you Cruzomatic. That helps a lot. Do you know if I have to program the radio to make them work the right way or do they work properly without any programming? I have read that one servo can go one way and one the other or does this not happen with just Y extensions?

I imagine you'll have to do some radio programming. You may have to reverse a channel. What kind of radio to you have?

Hello Cruzomatic. Yeah I figured that but I have read something about a servo going one way the other going the other when it comes to flaps, ailerons or something I just can't remember... I was just seeing if this is what happens with Y extensions or not. I have a Futaba 72mhz right now but am deciding between the 7channel Futaba FASST or the 7 Channel Spektrum. I have no problems with reversing servos I think I had to do that to all mine in my current plane.

Man, I honestly don't know if the servos will go in seperate directions, but I think they will. I always setup my dual aileron ( dual servo)planes on different channels. If one is moving the wrong way, it's as easy as reversing it. They can be fine tuned a bit better if they're on seperate channels. I'm a bit of a control freak I guess. Plus, it helps out a lot with aileron differential, more up less down movement.

RE: BH T-28 Assembly
Come to think if it, I think the aileron servos need to be set in the wing opposing each other in reference to the direction of the servo horns when using a "Y". In other words, if the horn is facing out or away from the fuselage on one end, then it needs to be facing away from the fuse on the other end.
Confused yet?

LOL The confusion started when I started this hobby

The servo's will go in the wing in the same direction on both sides. Y harness the ailerons if your radio wont allow for seperate channels. A reversing harness will be needed for the flaps. Here is a link to one. http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=EXRA325
What radio are you planning to use?

I actully think that I am going to buy the DX7. So that reverser would work I think.

RE: BH T-28 Assembly
Sorry I have not been in touch. Been involved with my job. Servo extensions depends on the make of servo and how long the leads are I used Hitec servos and 2 12" for Aileron and 2 6 " for flaps. If you pay attention to how you install the flaps servo you do not need to reverse. Set all the servos out on the bench as to how you would be installing and hook up the radio and make them work. Real simple and no radio programing involved.
If you look at the directions they have the servo leads exiting from the wings on both sides. I have hooked the Y harnesses to the RX and marked the ends as to Aileron or flaps for hook up when installing the wing.

Here are a couple of photos of the wings and how packaged. Also how I modified the servo mounting plates to minimize the opening for the servo arms.
More on the assembly later.

I really liked what you did withe the servo mounting plates. So I put the new Dremel to use and it sure does make a heck of difference on looks that is for sure.

Dremel rules in model building. I have 3, two cordless and 1 cord.
Here are the photos of the wing showing how the flap servos are installed. Notice both arms exit from the same side, unlike the ailerons.
I also show how I lay out for the engine cutout in the cowl. I use the paper method for all the openings and once I have a rough cut and see how it all fits, smooth out the edges.
Dremel sanding drums in different sizes work great.

Nice looking work JimO. After you draw the box you want on the paper, do you pull it out of the cowl then lay it back on the cowling with it in place and draw the box on the cowl? If that is how, Holy Cow you made that a whole heck of a lot easier.

RE: BH T-28 Assembly
The answer is yes and no on the layout. Because the exhaust port is located in line with the engine, I marked the location and size on the paper then cut it out. Taped the templatemto the fuse and slid the cowl on over top of the paper. Using a marker, marked the inside of the cowl and removed. Marked the approx center of the opening on the inside and made a pilot hole to fit Dremel small sanding drum. Very slowly made opening larger and slide cowl back on to make opening as large as I needed.

Where is the plane? I am almost done with my wings and going to epoxy them tonight. My wife just bought me the Dremel Workstations and man oh man did that work out nice for the servo mounts. Any hoots hope to see that plane soon.

You are preaching to the Choir my friend. I know exactly what you mean. I am going through the same thing here. Good luck with finding time.

She is done except for the decals. I have included a couple of photos of the fuel tank installed and of the nose wheel block. I drilled through and used blind nuts to hold the block as I felt the firewall was a bit soft and the wood screws would pull out.
I also installed a ElevtroDynamics Servo Slo for flap control. The Airtronics RD8000 has a three position setting for the flaps and using the control allows me to bring the flaps down slowly and maintain level flight with the elevator. I will eventually mix in some down elevator via the radio once I have her all trimmed. Now for a nice afternoon with gentle winds.
Changed main landing gear to 3 inch wheels. Supplied wheels makes the nose sit high,
