ORIGINAL: roksnes

Santa have been nice to me this year and got me an Seegull Edge 540 V2.

So since cristmasday i have been seeking forums for some info on a gas engine And what i found was :
A Seagull Edge 540 V2 with a 30 cc gas engine whould work perfektly... !!! or what ??

Is there anyone out there who got one whith a gas engine. Im thinking about Hobbykings 30 cc engin, looks like the weight is right compered to Saitos or Os 180 4 stroke...

Thanks for all the help
If it's the 68" red and white one, then a 30cc gasser will have it orbital.

Yeah,
A 180 4-stroke is a good match for this airframe.
Your 2-C 30cc gasser might not be enough urge for you, particularly before it's run in. Our club secretary has a DA50 in his. Now that's a bit more Oomph than I'd like myself, but it does make for entertaining vertical performance.
let us all know how you think it suits.
regards,
Carole

What do you think to putting a 180 4 stroke up front.

Im thinking about a DL-30, but still thinks its a little small for the plane...

Got a good price on a saito 180 4.stroke (But a good price on this engine does not help on this thirsty mate

Been looking at som 40 cc but they are heavy Evolution 40 GX Engine (Only) Weight:1451 g (51.2 oz) ( nearly more then the DL-50)

If i end up whith a 30 cc it will be the one from Hobby King

Anyway, thanks guys

Its to dam could to fly in Norway now a days, lots of ice to fly on but - 20 Celcius ( - 5 F)

Take care and a happy new (Flying) year

Ronny

Hi Ronny
i feel for your weather yesterday 40C were i,am very hot but we dont get any snow or much rain so we can fly all year with no problems apart from the heat.
with the Dle30 you should use a 19x8 prop thats what I use and get 7200Rpm not bad and great pull. they are a great engine i would say that the Dle55 would
pull this plane out of site in no time but i do like lots of power on my planes just makes landings fast haha.
hope your weather gets a bit better in the new year.

The elevator and horizontal stabiliser is fitted in 2 pieces. There is an aluminium tube that runs right through the fuselage and the stabiliser is prevented from swivelling about the tube by the stabiliser fitting into a shallow cut-out in the fuselage. Each stabiliser half is screwed to the fuselage by 4 wood screws/ self-tappers. I would recommend having a very long No 1 posidrive in your toolkit because the screws are very close to the stabiliser and the screwdriver handle can mark the surface.

In principle, you could take the horizontal stab off each time you transport it, but I decided that the screws would loosen over time if I did. So, I leave the stab permanently attached. I drive a Toyota Yaris Mk 1, ie a small car, and the plane still fits with the front seat lowered. I get friendly with the prop while I'm driving, mind you.
Hope this helps.

Hi there, just finished my 180 size Seagull Edge 540, having flown the 120 size with good results for most of the year.
Havent flown it yet, set it up for electric with a Hacker A60, 100 amp esc, 20x10 APCE and a 12s 3300 power pack.
It weighs 5.5kg loaded. Cant wait for the Maiden, any flying advice / tips? G

I have just got one of these blue 78" edge 540s fitted a crrc pro 50 in it which is great just goes vertical instantly but is nice and tame if you want it to be very predictable handling no nasty suprises c of g was perfect with this engine . I want to put Red Bull decals on mine but cant seem to find any large enough where did you get those, the transfers it comes with are poor thats my only complaint of this kit.
