Jason,
A friend of mine has that plane with a Supertiger 2300 in it and it has PLENTY of power. With either of your motor choices, that plane would probably fly out of site!!! I'd take a look at each motor and see which one would require the least amount of "dead weight" to ballance it. If you're going to mount the motor on its side, don't forget about the possibility of needing to add weight to the opposite wing tip to ballance the plane laterally...
Good luck with your plane and let us know how it flies...

I flew my Sig Extra 300XS with a Brison 2.4. I also had a friend that I flew with at the time that had the Sig Cap with a Brison 2.4 in it as well and it was a nice combination. I know my Extra had more than enough pull to do anything you wanted. 22lbs of thrust with a Mejzlik CF 20x10 2 blade prop. I measured the pull with a digital fish scale tied to the tail static on the ground. I am sure when the prop unloaded in the air, it was better than what I got on the ground too .

I'm pretty sure a rear carb DLE 30 will not work. I have this Cap new in the box and a DLE 30 ( that just became available) and looking at them, I don't think it will fit inside the cowl.

No problem. A little more insight on this plane. This is my second one. They are heavy planes. My first one had a YS140 and it flew great. By the time you add ignition and battery, in my opinion, its gonna be too heavy. I'm thinking about putting mine together with another YS. I'm just curious if the YS 170 will fit.

you could also consider running one battery for the entire set-up
you should save some weight with a smaller gas tank vise a 16-24 oz glow tank.

Hill202 -
I just crashed my Sig Cap 231 this past weekend (aileron servo died at a bad time) and so am looking to replace it. Did you build yours, or, if not, are you willing to sell? Or - if you didn't use the side decals I could use those, too. Thanks.
