RE: RC Plane ARF Manufacturers
I know Phoenix model come from Viet Nam. But, its a real streach to call them good quality in my opinion. (e.g., threaded bolts for wheel axels, etc.)

Add Minicraft and Vmar to the list. Thunder Tiger and GWS are in Taiwan, but you may still consider that China.
As for quality, none of them can match the best of the Chinese ARFs.

Edit: I think Black Hawk is also not in China. Or is that Black Horse? BH anyway.

Any ARF that is not made by one of the companies on the above list is made in China. The best are probably QQ, Aeroworks, Pacific Aeromodel, Fliton and the more expensive ones from Hanger 9 and Great Planes. There are undoubtedly other top quality arfs that I have not tried.

RE: RC Plane ARF Manufacturers
I had an old model that says it was made by Pheonix models but was not. It was called an Accipiter also? 65" wing and flew great with an os 70 on the nose.

I disagree. Having assembled more than my share of ARFs, running the gamut from VMar (junk, IMO) to Sig (absolute top shelf, again IMO), I have found that it all depends on MANY factors.
But I am working on a Seagull Yak 54 right now, made in Nam, that is fully the equal- fit, finish, overall quality wise- of the best I have ever seen.
So, a blanket statement such as yours in incorrect. IOW, you have to evaluate each offering separately.

RE: RC Plane ARF Manufacturers
With my experience only: Each individual model is different from one another. I am not referring to a specific mfr, either, for example, take 3 of the same design from any mfr, and they will be different from one another. Seagull for example, I have put together several, and it is like rediscovering the same plane each time. Different wood, twists in the airframe, glue, etc. Great Planes, places where there is supposed be wood to secure aileron horns, missing. Have to cut it open and build parts to fit. The only build I trust is a kit. So, I don't greatly place any credence on the specific location of an arf mfr.

And of course ARFs are all hand made, so no two will be exactly alike, not even two of the same model, from the same factory.
The point is: You are more likely to get a well designed and well built ARF from Aeroworks than from NitroPlanes. But... the big names (Great Planes, Hanger 9, Sig, etc.) get their expensive ARFs and their cheap ARFs from different factories. With those guys, price is the best indicator of quality.
