The stands are awesome they are brand new one of the club members just made couple of them for the club .. I guess you could find the plans on AMA's website and they shouldn't be very expensive to build. As for the engine you could not have asked for a better timing I just took the cowl off in order to tune the engine a little give a while I will go to my shop and take a picture for you. Any specific details you want to see so I could get them for you?

Hey Bill
It is not that hard to be honest I used the same mount included with the airplane it mounts just like a glow, however if you go to bigger size gas engines you usually use standoffs with recommended lengths for the specific airplane you are using.

The mount didn't have holes in them I just put the engine on it marked where they are supposed to be then used a tap and drill and made the holes. You just need to make sure to get them dead center because one of the holes I made wasn't the best so had to enlarge it a little but with the locknut it is just perfect. I had to trim the mount a little though but not a big deal. The prop I used on the maiden was probably 15x7 or something but I will double check once I get home. I think 15 is the largest to clear if I were to use a 16 which the engine could handle easily I think it will be hitting the ground or come really close.

I believe the holes Drdoom is talking about are the factory drilled firewall holes. As to how well the DLE 20 RA will fly this Cessna 182, mine has an OS 95v 4 stroke and fly's with authority. This Cessna is designed to fly with an engine as small as a .61 2 stroke with a 1.20 4 stroke at the top of the engine range.

The mount is adjustable with the 20 you have to use it as wide as possible so when adjusting it you will notice you will have to use the widest setting in other words it is not an issue. As for the power as Kap2011 mentioned this airplane was designed around a 0.6 ci two stroke engine the 20cc is equivalent to 1.22 ci which is the double of the 0.6 it flies the plane with authority you could have it do whatever you want. I will have to mention it would be a good idea to reinforce your firewall. I haven't had issues with that but other members on the thread advised me to do so because some had their firewall break. What I did is went over the the joints with thin CA then used 30 minutes epoxy and covered the whole fire walla and the motor box .. so far so good

I bet it wouldn't be the best. The one I have on is actually a 15x8 and if I have just a little bit of a bad landing it would definitely hit the ground therefore I think a 14 or 13 would be better. I just ordered a 13x8 and hopefully that is going to be good.

I have flown the Cessna with the DLE 20RA and it is a great combination. lots of power and will fly forever. Our runway has some asphalt that is coming apart and I got one of the wing tips in the ground. severely scuffing the right win tip clear plastic lense. TF doesn't sell just the light clear cover so I made a set. came out definitely usable

Fellas, I've built two of these planes and the easiest way to solve the weak firewall mount and forward and aft issues is this...
If you take note of the recess in the bottom of the firewall and the way the stock coil spring sits in there, you will notice that the spring coil will touch the firewall when minimal forward pressure is applied, that in turn supports the nose gear shaft and makes it actually quite forgiving on the rough landings. If you install the Robart gear just epoxy a block into that recess and notch a nice groove in it up and down, allow minimal clearance between the groove and the shaft of the nose gear and it will take a pile of abuse, believe me I know!! It works great!! I will post pics soon

Hi-
Did you ever post pics of the mod?
Did it stop the robostrut from bending?
Thank you.

I don't have any pictures of my setup. The OS 95v was mounted inverted, pretty much everything was in side the cowl except for the front of the engine and tops of the valve covers. The two pictures I've attached are of my first Cessna with a Saito 1.00, I swapped it out because of vibration and put in the 95V. The only change I made was to open the air hole in front of the cylinder head. An APC 13 X 8 sport prop looked very scale when painted so that is what I used on both engines.
