RE: Horizon re-releasing the Taylorcraft!!
Some of Horizons new to be release ARF's say "Due Middle August", some say "Due Late August" and otheres say "Preorders being taken". They'll all be coming on the same slow boat from China so I don't know why Horizon is putting different due dates on these planes. Like mobyal said, don't hold your breath one this one. I've had my share of planes on back order and it's always been anywhere from one to 6 months. Really Horizon or anyone else has no clue as to when these planes will hit the states. All they can do is wait until the company in China gives them a call that the boat is on the way. Then, if the container on the boat gets picked for inspection it could be another two weeks to a month before the goods are released. I've had my eye on this one even though the price is a little high. I'm looking at the MLD 28cc or the new DLE 30cc. I'd like this plane to be able to hover. I'm not looking for a 3D plane, I just want it to hover a little better than my Rascal 110 with the G26.

They do it on purpose to keep all of us DROOOLING months on end, so that
we purchase all of the goodies to go with the airplane, ie engine, servos etc
from Horizon. It's all a marketing ploy. Great Planes does it also but not
nearly as bad. Just my 2 cents LOL

Anybody have ideas as to which engine you are going to use? I have an OS 120 4-stoke sitting on a shelf but I am not sure it will have enough power for a ~ 13-14 lbs airplane.

RE: Horizon re-releasing the Taylorcraft!!
Guys,
The Taylorcraft HAN4900 are setting in our warehouse and will begin to ship out next week and we do have enough units available to fill all the current backorders.
Thanks for your patience as we worked through a delay that we wanted to be perfect prior to shipping these out to our customers
I think you will be very pleased with this beauty.

Couldn't stand it any longer........contacted Horizon and had them set me one aside. Now just have to dicide on what muscle I want to use on the business end of this fine looking plane. Zenoah is always at the top of my list but I may want to try the new MLD 28cc or the new DLE 30cc. I don't care for the way the prop bolts on the DLE 30. I'd rather have just a bolt or a threaded shaft with a nut. This is a Fall project so I have some time to think about it.

RE: Horizon re-releasing the Taylorcraft!!
Thanks, Bill
The updated info is much appreciated.
I'm thinking of an EVO 1.0 as I have one NIB. I'm not looking for 3D capability, but instead want something that flies closer to scale, on the wing using built-up energy rather than just goosing the engine to jerk it around.

Is Horizon still planning on shipping the new Taylorcraft out this week? I'd like to think I could be working on getting it together this coming weekend. Thanks for the info man.

RE: Horizon re-releasing the Taylorcraft!!
Zippi,
We are hoping to finalize inserting the instruction manuals on Wednesday. If we finish inserting all of the manuals on Wednesday then they should begin to ship out late Thursday. If it takes until Thursday to insert all of the manuals then the first shipments will begin to go out Friday. I will keep you guys posted.
Thanks again for your patience.

Bill,
Thanks for the update. I look forward to getting this plane together and in the air. Haven't decided on a power plant yet but it looks like I need to get serious about what I want on the business end since your getting really close to shipping.

I saw the other post and got all excited that the plane was shipping, but I guess we still have a few weeks to go [:@]
I hope I can fit a Saito 36 in the cowl.

Linda Bergstrom from Horizon Hobby contacted me yesterday and said the Taylorcrafts will be shipped out late this week or early next week. They are still trying to finalize everything to make sure it's all up to snuff. I'm still debating over which power plant I'm going with [sm=72_72.gif]

RE: Horizon re-releasing the Taylorcraft!!
If any of you guys decides to install a small gas powerplant
that will fit inside the cowl without any cutting of the cowl, please
let me know! This bird of beauty does not deserve ANY hacking
of it's precious nosepiece. Further, either a 2 or 4 stroke glow
engine will soil the outside with residue and make the Taylorcraft
an oil slick LOL Conclusion... a small gasoline engine would be best
in my humble opinion.
