RE: Horizon re-releasing the Taylorcraft!!
Wow! Very nice.
I hadn't seen that on Horizon Hobby's site before you posted the link.
I was thinking about an AMR 26 to get into gas, but now I'm not so sure....
Thanks for the link!
Bob

The price is pretty high for a newer smaller version though.

RE: Horizon re-releasing the Taylorcraft!!
The two planes almost look like twins side by side but the newer version has a 5" shorter wing span and it has picked up a little weight. The Old version on the left came in at 13-15 lbs and the new version on the right is 14-15 1/2 lbs. May have to keep my eye on this one. Not to bad except for the price [:@]. flygilmore was correct in saying you can get one heck of a 50cc plane for $550.00.

RE: Horizon re-releasing the Taylorcraft!!
The plane is very nice looking. It is much more scale in appearance
compared to their previous Taylorcraft. The details are similar with
those on the Hangar 9 1/4 scale cub, struts, pilot, opening door etc.
The cowl detailing is very nice as well. If the price were $100 cheaper
I would buy one! This would look great on floats.
Besides the shorter wingspan will make it more aerobatic maybe like
a decathon or clipped wing cub perhaps?

It's beautiful and at least you are getting some high end features like functioning landing gear, opening door, and interior. Those are items missing on the Pilot 1 ARFs from Hobby Lobby which go for $40 more than this plus over size shipping. It is an investment though at over $500. You really have to love it for that price.

An added feature taken into consideration on the cost....
The control surfaces are pre-hinged and the horns are
already installed. This will save at least a couple of hours
on the assembly.

Pricing seems high-I guess that is inflation, I think I bought my first one for $379. from Horizon maybe it was more-I tend to forget more things lately

I'm sure the price competes with the 1/4 cub price and has the same detail - I wonder if a 120 four stroke would fly it scale as i have it on the bench
I'm in if they get it done as i have been looking for a year for this plane - at least i can get the parts if and when I crash

I like it but I don't like it enough to pay $550 for it. I'm sure Horizon will probably sell quite a few of them even at that price. You'd have to want one real bad to shell out that much for it.

I had the older version of the H9 Taylorcraft and loved it and just saw the new Top Flight Cessna ARF at my LHS which about the same size and $150.00 less in price that the new H9 TCraft. Big difference in price if you are considering a new high wing plane.

Is there a current $60 off coupon at Tower? If so please share the code, I don't see it on their web site. Or perhaps you received it via email...

I will pay the extra money for Hanger 9 kit anyday of the week. The only problem I have with GP's is there advertised covering. I had one of there 1/4 scale RV-4's that was advertised with Monokote, but was infact covered with China cote. There is a whole thread on the subject that is now locked. It also included the Skybolt and a few others.
Read these thread's

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7325080/tm.htm
This is why I will pay Hanger 9's prices to get what I payed for.
