RE: New Funtana 125
Well I would suggest looking into a 6s / 7s setup with the Hacker A50-12L or something similiar. on 8s and a power 110 the plane is way to heavy. Prepair to get a light servo for the elevator halves 38g or less prefered. obviosly that depends on the motor you choose and how you place things in the fuse. I would sugest getting your ESC and BEC on the firewall. BEC on side and ESC on bottom for good airflow.

I have also found this plane will easiy handle a 15 MPH wind. But on landing it will not stall on a cross wind until almost at a stop. Sometimes I will put in a click of down elevator when landing, which helps force it to settle in. A fellow at our field does every type of 3d with a DLE 20 and it has plenty of pull out, though I don't know what prop he is using.
Strongly recommend reinforcing the gear and upgrading to Carbon Fiber gear.

RE: New Funtana 125
I went ahead and kept the Hitec 7775 MG (0.10sec/60°&125oz/in on 6v | weight 49g) on the Aileronsand rudder asthese have turned out to be pretty good servos even when running them with a crappy DX7. Cant afford the JR DS9411 and with the weight I can afford to put another 7775 in the tail so I put in a pair of Hitec 5245 MG servos (0.12sec/60°&76 oz/in on 6v | weight 32g) in the tail last night (running everything on 6.5v) and bam. Nice response with no jitter and good centering even with a 2oz weight laying on the surface (I do this to see how they will hold under lode). I have been running a 18x10 xoar but also want to try running a 19x8 as Im doing mostly 3d and thing the 19x8 might give me better air movement across the surfaces in hover and slower manuvers.

I used the Graph Tech gear, which I believe was around $50. Its an excellent fit - made for the Funtana. Handles rough landings and as would be expected, holds its shape.

I really don't know if its much of an improvement on weight, but it is very well made and has held up very well. Will likely buy one for my EF Yak.

Hi, Funtana 125 with os 120 pumped 4 stroke AR 7000 rx and servos is for sale at local hobby shop. Asking $450. Do you think this is a good deal, so make an offer? The plane seems in excellent shape at the shop. Thanks in advance!

Components:
~ Hacker A50-12L
~ 10 amp castle BEC @6.5v
~ RX AR7000
~ Rudder & Ailerons 7775MG & 5245MG on elevator (53 degrees throw)
~ Castle ICE 100 (Settings are at Med timing advance (5)(default) and 12khz for the pwm.)
~ Xoar 18x8 (Now I think it would do much better with a 18x10 but I couldnt find one so I will have to order.)
~ 7s setup(3s & 4s zippy 5000 in series 20c)
~ 85 amps at WOT - 2200 watts
~ weight 9.6lb
Now that I have a position where it will fly neutral maybe I can get a 6s setup back in it to cut that 4oz of extra weight. Overall the plane did really descent 3D. I am going to go ahead and grab the carbon fiber LG. I would also like to find a source for some good nylon bolts for the LG and SFGs etc. So if anyone knows where to get 3 & 4 mm nylon bolts I would love to know. (socket head prefered but not really holding my breath).

RE: New Funtana 125
WOW, what did you hit a bus! Thats kinda bad. Well I will say the funtana is a chore to get setup right but once you do it does fly really well. I finally did get mine flying real nice where I want it and its right at the 9.5x Lb mark with the SFG's which are 2oz.. Nuetral CG for me was just forward of the 6.5 cg mark. 6 3/8 is nose heavy so you just have to get it close and play with the batteries to get the nuetral. If you arent going to get another Funtana, If I can make a recomendation. The Extreme Flight 60" Edge is also a great plane. Probably my favorite of all the planes in my hanger. However I have so much time invested in getting the funtana figured out I would have to probably replace mine as its just now getting really fun to do low rollers and hovering etc. (not that I would ever buy another hanger 9 aircraft, im just saying I have this one where I want it so I would just replace it.)

~ Rudder & Ailerons 7775MG & 5245MG on elevator (As much throw as possible)
~ Castle ICE 100 (I did play with the settings after updating to the new firmware version. New firmware seemed to help with the output power)
~ Xoar 20x10 (Seems to fly well on 6s with both the 19x10 and 20x10.)
~ 6s setup(2 -3s zippy 20c 5000mah in series)
~ weight 9.6lb
~GraphtechLanding gear.http://www.graphtechrcshop.com/product.sc?productId=43&categoryId=6
Gives better ground clearance on the larger props (over 18) andhandles the harder landings better in my opinion. same weight within a few grams of the aluminum. 160 grams I believe.

RE: New Funtana 125
No Bus, just mud. I was on my final when another flyer called out dead stick. I hesitated trying to decide whether to go ahead and land or go around. Lost air speed and stalled. When I noticed it start to stagger I gave it power but it was pointed down by the time the engine took hold.

Does anybody have any DLE 20 install pictures. I am trying to figure out the bolt hole pattern using H9 Alum. Motor Mounts, the choke setup, and also the throttle servo positioning. I would like to use the stock tank also.
Cutting hole in firewall for carb? Mounting of servo throttle arm and choke?

Choke: pushrod to front just rear of propeller, mounted to plastic motor mount
Throttle servo: stock position in fuse, used nyrod with ball links
Tank: 8oz from a .50 ci ARF - will fly 15 mins hrd 3D and still be 1/2 full !

Thanks for the pics W1nd....
A little more info if you don't mind.
1. If you put the throttle servo in its stock position, looks like you crossed the pushrod over to the other side inside the fuse?
2. What is the reason for no Alum mount use plastic instead?
3. I was thinking the same on the choke, bend around the engine or a possible bellcrank
4. Only thing I didnt like on yours was the hard looks like almost 90 degree bend on the fuel line, isnt that problematic for you? THere definately isnt much clearance to the firewall to work with fuel line.

Yeah, no problem there if using flexible nyrod
2. What is the reason for no Alum mount use plastic instead?
Plastic mount absorbs modt of DLE20 vibration, alum transfers it to airframe
3. I was thinking the same on the choke, bend around the engine or a possible bellcrank

You can mount the engine 1 cm further forward, and also move the cowl further forward. It looked dubious to me too, but never had any problem - been flying it for past 9 months

Ok, thanks for the input. Did you use any lead on the nose?

With the lighter carbon gear and 8oz tank full CG is aft of recommended range, flies somewhat nose-high at low speeds which takes some getting used to but its not supposed to fly in straight lines is it?

Mind you, they had some CA added to keep some strength, and one side has some damage. covering is off on that wing... to fix it...
I believe the covering could be heated up and restuck w/o issues... The damage is minor... but it is getting hangar rash in the garage...
I can PM you the wings with detailed picts....
I was about to throw them away...Too much clutter in my garage...

I do have one RIGHT WING for the Funtana 100 X.
Checked it over and looks good. I acquired it from someone else and it appears to have not
been in any accidents.
Can send photos by private E-mail.
