Syssa sounds like the winner. I have no experience with the engine, but it looks like a strong-running, well-made American product, and I would take that over a DLE if your budget allows for it.

Hum....yea,I also see the Syssa has a standard output shaft like a saito, not the 4-5 bolt style...does anyone know if the crank threads are M8 like the 4 strokes?,,,,,,,AND has linkages, and aign. switch incl.

Yes...

M8x1.25 is the output shaft on the SAP-180HP (30cc).

The only downside of the Syssa is it will spoil you and make you want to sell all your glow motors. I have already replaced the OS 120AX on my Ultra Stick, and soon I will dump the YS 110S that is on a P-47 as well. The only glow motor I will have left will be the 55AX on a profile 3-D plane.

but my TANA is already cut and fit to a SAITO and like I said..the 150 is identical in size to the 125,and will pop right on the same mount

Are you sure ????? My 150 was considerably bigger than a 125. My 150 was the same physical size as the 180. They even shared a lot of the same part #'s

I just found that out! I was reading and comparing, exploring this week, and everywhere said the 150 is the 120 case bored out....thinking they where the same....and they are....the 120s case is the same as the 150 case. The 125 case is a 115 case bored out to 125.Two totally differant cases/engines.Another thing im wondering....cause the 120s case/enternals are ALOT larger than the 125GK,it should have more torque and power....the 125 is pewny compared to the 120s which is listed as 2.2 HP...the HP isnt listed anywhere incl.the manual/Horizon and I dought the 125 has that much.(150= 2.5HP) So its a stalemate between the Syssa 30,and the SAITO 150....My hobby shop has a 150 on the shelf AND will match the cheapest online price ($355!)...could get started tonight with the switch,or be patient and order the syssa from them(its the only place ive found that carries them) and mods to the plane will be around equal...minus the cowl switch with the Syssa. But the savings in fuel will pay for the new cowl 10 times over this year(once I can get one) Either way....I may have to move the rudder servo back....cause both are ALOT heftier than the 125,But this is good, getting more power and more forward CG is what Im after. Thanks for the input // help guys!!! ANG

No prob....just think its not enough...there are some here with vids of a 1.2 in a Tana...looks good too.A great aircraft for that 1.00 is the H9 pulse 125.It will work well there and theres a thread here in which I posted in,just beef up the stab.....H9 says they have fixed the flimzy stab issue....but needs attention, but its a sweet flyer with capibilities, almost to easy to land.

Angelo, I replaced my os 120 AX with the Syssa and the difference in power is awesome. I am using the cowl, which had part of the bottom cut out to accomodate the BIsson pitts used with the 120. Once you have trid the Syssa, you will never look back. Good Luck.

Sorry gas guys....I was hours away from ordering a syssa and was at my LHS,talking with the owner and he just popped out a $319 price for a brand new Saito 150.That is a deal to good to pass up....thats a $100 discount! Even if I didnt like, its a steal. Not saying I wouldnt drop a Syssa 30 in my Tana and put the 150 in a new plane....which im eager to have another after the TANA revamping.I already haveeng. installed . the bolt spacing on the motor is the same, just hade to spread the mounts out.The engine washer though sits @ 5 5/8 out ( factory setting is 5 1/4) ISTHISOK??? thinkin itwont hurt as long as the eng.output is lined with ctr. line oneng wall.I will most likely change the mount with a sturdy nylon/composite from H9,the tana one isnt availb....That erks me too,The part avail. really sucks, cant get stupid stuff like cowls,mounts,gear...nothing...sucks.I didnt think I needed to go to a heavy metal eng. mount,I like the hard nylon cause there lite.So got the engine in,all the spinners/nuts fit the new eng. threads, but the shaft is larger. Was able to mod the cowl and fit like it was born that way.The only thing I had to buy is a 90 deg. exhaust nut. I then gave it a rough assembly to ck. my CG,and its almost perfect....thought it come in stupid nose heavy.....but just moved the batt under the wing tube and its steady, on the forward mark, empty tank.So the pull-pull can stay. For first flight, thinking 16x6...then to a 17x6 apc???? Anyone who has a 150 set-up...please what props are ya using? 17x6 should be good,or bigger? I will post some pics of the new TANA soon.Waitin for that adapter/mount...though im using the old mount for break-in.Runnin 20% heli fuelto start...heard they like 25...will see.

HI Angelo,
When I had my Funtana X100 and Saito 150, I was using a 17x6 Xoar. It pulled a bit btter than the APC and had really quick throttle response because it was half the weight of the APC.
So yes a 17x6 is a good prop

Wow....I started the new 150 to break it in and at 5 turns open, crazy rich....it had gooooobs of power,so much more than the 125.it sounds totally differant, has a racey sound and the responce,rpm's/torque are amazing.I have a 16x6 apc on it and its to small, will go to a 17x6 or even a 18x4 or 6.I had a feeling the larger bore/case had alot more ump than the 125.Cant wait to fly,I definetly gonna put in a new mount, beef up the eng. box a little cause when it comes time to heat this baby up....look out.Im also trimmin the fat, adding graphite push rods on the elev.....some alum axles, maybe a carbon landing gear,WHERECANIGETONE???? Does one from a X100 fit?,Who has 'em? Any other suggestions to trim weight are very welcome....lovein this plane!

Not completly in line with this thread but I just installed a CRRC 26i on an ultra stick for a friend. Thrust is nearly 15lb. I see here and all over RCU where people claim to get 9000 rpm with an APC 17/6. This is the third one of these engines I have installed for others and none of them ever made 9000 rpm with an APC 17/6. I use synthetic oil at 40:1-87 octane, the best I can do is 8700 rpm. I am at sea level. I like to think I can tune one of these things. What do you guys know that I don't?...................................antiquefe r.

Thinking of using a CRRC 40 on this plane. I have a Saito 150 that I could use but I am in the process of changing over to gassers. Any thoughts on this idea?

Well, you would certainly have enough power. I would think the only downside might be the weight? Not that the CRRC is all THAT heavy, but by time you get the extra weight (over what a 26-30cc might weigh) balanced?

To illustrate a little maybe. I'm also flying a Giant Sportster. Last season I flew it with a Quadra 42 at just over 16 lbs. My first gasser, it flew great and I was hooked on gas. This season I repowered that plane with a Syssa 30. I was able to lose the tail ballast that was used to balance the big Quadra, re-arrange the batteries, etc. The plane now has a touch more power, but it's like 2 lbs lighter, and it REALLY flies....

Just my opinion...

I HAVE A CRRC 26I V1 WITH REPLACED BEARING. IT TURNS AN APC 17X6 8900+ RPM. I JUST CHECKED, HOBBICO TACH, LAST WEEK, 85 DEG., 500 FT ELEVATION. 91 OCTANE CITCO GAS WITH PENZ AIRCOOLED AT 32:1. RUNS VERY GOOD.

A friend at the field has a Funtana 125 with a Zenoah 26 Magnet version. It balanced without having to add weight. I am thinking that the CRRC 40 would be about the same weight and have more power. Just a thought.

My CRRC 26 [before it blew up] would turn an APC 17x6 @ 9,100. There's also a guy with a CRRC 26 that would do 9,500 with the same prop. I was running Pennzoil air-cooled @ 40:1 on 87 pump gas.

I would be concerned about weight with this engine. A DLE 30 would be about the max I would consider for this plane.

What happen to your crrc 26?Mine lost the bearing fit to case, put trash through piston/sleeve, left marks.
Parts replaced under warranty, piston, sleeve , case, bearings and ring. Runs far better than new.

I second the DLE 30. Less weight, and almost as much power as the crrc 40. In my experience the dle 30 is better quality than the crrc engines.

I agree that The DLE is a better motor, however I have a CRRC 40 that is sittng around looking for an airplane. I am sure that it has more power than the plane needs but I will just have to use throttle control.

I'm not sure, but it looks like a roller in the wrist pin bearing failed and killed the piston. It was pretty cool actually. 9,000 rpm to full stop in a quarter second. The plane (H9 Frenzy) is okay. I may rebuild it and fly it again, but for now I'm going to clean it up and use it as a paperweight. There's just too many substandard parts in the 26, that I'm sure something else will need replacing down the road anyway.
