Which is better??
Which of these 2 planes is better? I plan on using a 25 or 26cc gas engine. If there is a 25cc Yak 54 that dosn't cost $400 like the Aeroworks Yak that you like better than either of these please post.

RE: Which is better??
I have the Seagull Yak, the black and yellow scheme, and a guy at our club has the Nitro Planes Yak. He was looking at my plane the other day and then made the statement I wish I'd bought the Seagull plane. When I asked him why he showed me all the differences in our two planes. Basically the Seagull is just built sturdier all over. He has taken off his gear three times already and swears they were not hard landings. I've hit mine so hard that I wondered why they didnt come off and they have flattened out but never broke. Not to say I didnt have some issues with mine, such as CG balance and engine thrust angle, but once they were ironed out the plane flies very well, one of my favorites.

RE: Which is better??
I bought my first Seagull a couple of months ago and I'm very impressed with the quality for the money. Based on this experience I'd definitely buy another Seagull.
Here's a caveat - read the Seagull Yak thread here and pay attention to where people have balanced the airplane. For some reason my Seagull Edge 46 was tail heavy at factory CG, and evidently the factory recommendation for the Yak CG is tail heavy.

Really good choice with the seagull kit.
If you like fourstroke sounds go for the fg36 saito,as an added bonus you get to hear what a wide blade prop sounds like at low revs when it is torqued up.

I would look at trying to get one of the new DL30cc engines if your going to go gas. They the same size or smaller and lighter then most 26cc engines out there and if it holds true to its name it will have a lot more power also. Just my 2cents

RE: Which is better??
Seagull Yak by far. The quallity of the ARF is much better for the money and if you wanted, you could use the stock hardware if you were on a tight budget. With CMP you get what you pay for and takes some serious work to get it to look and be flight ready. Plus Seagull uses Ultra from Hanger 9. CMP uses China-Kote, it's terrible to work with.

RE: Which is better??
there is NO WAY a seagull Yak is up to the quality or BETTER than an Aeroworks Yak...Aeroworks quality FAR EXCEEDS Seagull or most other manufacturers...

RE: Which is better??
I own neither, but on reputation and research alone that I have done, I would go with Aeroworks over Seagull. That said, I am now completing the Nitroplanes Yak 54,-69". This one is high quality and is assembling spot on. I think it will fly fantastic given the light weight. There is controversy over it since it is reputedly a copy of the QQ design that is not sold anymore. Jon

The Aeroworks are VERY VERY good...
They are purposely lightly built though and ill advised to those complaining about breaking gear on other manufacturer's planes.
Often the requirements for 3D are overlooked by some who jump in a bit too quickly, then complain that the plane is "weak".
I have an FB-Models Yak ( Troy Built ) which is an exceptional flyer with a 26cc as the OP asked about.
However the gear ripped out on the third landing ( not hard ), and has since been replaced with heavy CF gear and re-inforcement.
There was/is nothing wrong with the plane though.

RE: Which is better??
Lets add another one. They all seem to be within the same price range. I have three CMP models and I am not sure I would buy one of theirs for aerobatics. mine are scale.Bob http://www.valleyviewrc.com/TLT%20Av...2054%20Red.htm
