Default saito 100 on funtana x 100- which prop?

Hello all! I have this plane /engine combo, and was wondering how to get the most out of the engine. I've heard ruinning 30% will help. I currently have a 15x4 on it. Think a 14x4 might work a bit better? I'm just not getting quite enough vertical to try and hover the plane. Especially down low. Thanks for any insight!

A buddy of mine has a Funtana 90 with a Saito 100 running 30% and a 16x4 APC and is unpowered. Sorry, you need more motor!

Whow there!

That's exactly the combo I run with my Funtana S90 but I only use 10% flow fuel.

My takeoffs are straight up.

I have no problem hovering nor pulling the plane out of a hover quickly.

This may not be as overpowered as some other combos and big gassers, but I would not call that combo "underpowered" in the least.

I get unlimited vertical that way, though the plane tends to fly slowly ( as it SHOULD !!! ) with that low pitch prop.

That said a 1.25 Saito on either the 100X or the S90 is about perfect.

There must be something wrong with my friends Funtana. Or the motor. My 4*60 probably weighs about the same and has a Saito 100 and takes off like a rocket! Unlimited verts, no problem.

I have the Funtana X 100 with an OS 120 AX 2 stroke and a 17x6 APC prop, unlimited vertical and a great combo, it will hang on the prop and do anything I ask of it.

The X 100 weighs about 9 lbs, so a Saito 100 is a little weak for that plane.

If your going to use that motor use 30% nitro and a 16x4 APC prop. I used that combo on my Funtana 90 and it worked well. I;m usung a Saito 120 on my 100.

I have to agree with Chuck here. The Funtana X100 is a great flying plane and the and will fly beautiful on just about any .75-1.20 2 stroke or .91-1.50 four stroke. Even a 20cc to 26cc gasser, I have heard but not seen. You, just have to select the motor that gives you what you want, performance wise. My first X100 had a Saito 1.25 and I always run them rich since I am cheap and do not want to burn up a $300 engine for a few hundred more RPM. So I found the Saito 1.25 w/ a 16x6w APC did not have "pull out power" either. I traded that plane to a freind and got a new in box ARF and have an OS 1.20ax for it but am also concidering trying a 26cc gas engine as I am tired of nitro goo. The problem comes when you select an engine in the higher end and forget that the Funtana must be flown slow.

We are at 2,000ASL at our field. The APC16x4W on 30% is good on cooler days. On hot days the APC 16x6 is better. The 15X4W and 14x4W are both a little small. I run a 15x4W on a 82.

Alright, thank you all. I wish I could just go buy a new motor, but I cannot. I got this plane complete ,minus a Rx in a trade for a dle-55. Think I got a good deal? I went and bought some 30% and a 16x4, so Sunday I'll give that a shot. Thanks everyone for your insight. Have a safe Memorial Day weekend! Trevor

If you must use the Saito 1.00 with the Funtana 100X, put an APC 16x4W prop on it.

The plane will fly slowly and it will prop hang, but it will not be good at hovering nor torque rolling and it may not pull up out of both.

However for aerobatics the plane will fly fine.

Well, you already know how to trade obviously... Pull that Saito and put it up here on RCU for sale or trade for an OS 120ax. You would be suprised how fast a Saito sells here on RCU. I bet you could have a 1.20 in less than two weeks.
