    RE: Larger Revolver

    ORIGINAL: wjcalhoun

Mach2 - I bought an 8FG; great radio, and really flexible. I had a 6EX for a while, and a 7C, and my 8FG is by far the nicest and most capable. Good programming, 14 channels, lots of switches (all soft-swappable), good ergonomics. Might be something to consider when you buy your NEXT radio.

The 6ex was very affordable and it satisfield my current needs and the needs of anything i can forsee in the near future.

ill probably go with that next. In a year or so.That's a lot of channels. How do you utilize more channels as far as the Rx. I saw that is comes with an 8 channel Rx.

    Thanks,
    Jeremy

Sorry guys but , for those who needs/wants a 20cc gasser , the RCGF is the better choice , is 0,4 hp more powerfull then DLE , same weight, the Engines works "full" of power even in low rpms
Here in Brazil we have a Authorized Dealer and he helps us a lot , and this engines in Brazil are cheaper then DLE .
The old version of the RCGF is rated at 2.2hp and the new version is 2.6hp and the DLE-20 is 2.5hp. So the hp is negligible. I think the same motor from the same manufacturer would vary more than .1hp.

Im sure the RCGF is a great motor and a great price. I do like the looks of the DLE muffler and the rail mount was an easier conversion from glow. the RCGF needs to use stand offs.

I would most definitely consider the 15cc motor for a small build! That would be sweet. I am a huge gasser fan. Glow is cool, but gas is cooler!

OH OH, MAYBE A 59" REVOLVER WITH THE RCGF 15CC. That would be sweet!!!

mach2 - you might want to subscribe to the "NEW DLE 20cc Gasser!" RCU thread. In that the accelerated throttle curve of the Electronic Ignition that comes with the DLE 20 is discussed at length.
I did subscribe to it. Unfortunately a lot of the links about the engine are no longer working. I posted my engine and prop info on that thread and one dude basically told me that if I don't swing a 16x8 or a 17x6, that I am going to seize my engine up.....

I'll test my luck. Plus I'm going to be running the 100 octane after my gallon of 91 shell is gone. So that should make it safer to run more rpm with the props I have vs. what he said I needed to run.

    RE: Larger Revolver

    Hi Jeremy
One needs to buy a receiver with as many channels as one needs in order to take advantage of up to 14 channels. For my purposes, i only use 7 channels, so I use the 617 receiver: 2 aileron, 2 elevator, 1 throttle, 1 rudder, 1 kill. I Y-splice into the aileron channels for dual power feed to the receiver.

Like Mike, I don't see a need for more channels for most sport planes, but smoke, retracts each take a channel if you are flying a plane with those features.

    RE: Larger Revolver

wow, i was just going by towers site, and i saw that the 8 channel rx is the highest channel rx they had. I saw the others on the futaba site! Like you, I am only using 5 channels now, and will be using 6 when i do smoke. So that's why i went went the cheaper 6ex for starters.

I had another question. Why does futaba call the 617 (which also came with my TX) a 7 channel, when channel 7 is used up by the battery, making it not really a channel? Is it because the electrics get their power through the esc on channel 3? Making 7 then usable for another feature?

    Thanks guys,
    Jeremy

    RE: Larger Revolver

Channel 7 is for servo and battery where the servo and battery are connected by a Y harness which then plugs into channel 7 on the receiver. Actually you can plug the battery into any port on the 617 receiver.

So all Id have to do to use all the channels available in a Rx is use a Y on that channel?

So, do they send a 7 channel Rx with the 6 channel Tx to make it easier for the user?  Because i could use the 6 channel Rx and use all available channels on my Tx by using the Y. Right?

sorry, that was kinda a confusing post.... CR6106HFC 6-Channelhannel

Last night I put he clevis on the closest hole and adjusted my ny-rod. I ran the motor tonight again and the throttle is perfect. I was able to set both the top and bottom EPAs at 100% and it was all perfect.

In the vid I posted of the first run I used my buddy's started cause I dont have one (didn't see the need). So tonight I hand started it with no fuss at all.

Also!  I went down to the local hobby shop and got a Sullivan Skywriter smoke pump, tank and everything I need to start pumpin' smoke!  !!!!

    I'm stoked on this plane!!!!

Got one last question? I know the shaft for the DLE-20 is a 8x1mm. What prop adatpter have you guys found that works best with this stock spinner? Right now I am using the stock adapter that came with the kit just to see how the spinner fits. I know it is a 5/16 adapter and I don't want to mess the threads up on the DLE-20 by using it.

Another member on this thread pointed me toward this one.

Lookin good jim. One question though. It looks like you ran your rudder pushrod through the tube that was meant for the antenna. did it work out okay? I would think it would give you a lot of resistance.

Hi March2 .... just a point to explain

The 2.9 hp RCGF 20cc , is the "Beam mount" model , and you will need to see both to understand , the "bm" model works allways full of power even at low rpmΒ΄s , it gives always stronger answer from your throtle stick. It seems that it can breath more deeply and gives much more power . Believe me , the RCGF 20c "bm" seems like a 26cc , its amazing engine. Its the same comparisom with a Ford Fusion with a Mustang Shelby GT500 .

But youΒ΄ve made a mistake . The RCGF 15cc its very bad engine , itΒ΄s weight to much and very weak on power capability , do not waste you money on it .
Chinese industry is very strong , and they have the capability of learn very fast , they re-engeneering is very strong , and they are manufacturing for japaneses , americans , europeans industry for a long , long time , they are growing very fast , and our hobby is changing because their batteries(eletronics) , engines (mechanical ) and production fast development.

A days ago , a get on my hands a famous D.A. Engine , I think a 110cc model , and I became surprised finding that there are no diference between DA and others , and surelly the interior finishment reflects the exterior ones . And that DA has a machinning error on their logo , the CNC coolet collided with the engine block and it let a big signal on the engine block . That shows to me , that their are almost the same kind of engines and manufactored in the same place .

The TURNIGY 9X radio , with a US$54,00 cost are showing us the same thing here in Brazil . I bought one of these Chinese radios 6 months ago , and I love it , its awsome with 3,6 km ranging , tested by my local club users . No more Futabas , Hitecs , Jrs , they are brothers , they birth from the same factorys. I bought another Turnigy a month ago to install FrySky systems , some guys here are flying FPV with 7 km ranging securely.

    Thats why I love JBAΒ΄s , DLEΒ΄s , RCGFΒ΄s , TURNIGYΒ΄s , NanotechΒ΄s ...

Just servoΒ΄s we are testing to be sure what is the best one , we are tsting PowerHD , BlueBird , Turnigy , Savox ( very expensive like JR , Hitec, Futaba )

If you remove my OS 120 ( just because JBA dont provide us a 120 new generation engine ) all my planes have pulled eyes for a 1/4 cost .

By the way JBA new gen engines are the same as OS , awsome flyers .

So be carefull with the 15c RCGF , this still a bad engine but certainly not for a long time!
    !

ICEMAN, thanks for the info. Maybe i was looking a pic that wasnt really a RCGF 20cc. Or maybe the first version?

I may try one out on my next plane. I haven't maidened the revolver yet, but im already looking at doing an Edge 540. Just so I have two nice sport planes incase one has a problem, or I crash one...

And thanks for letting me know that the 15cc is a dud. I was thinking about doing a small 540 and using that motor. Ill probably get a .60-.90 size plane and use the 20cc.

How close are you to your Revolver maiden?

Engine removal isnt really a big deal. And just to let you know, I use a hanger 9 gas fuel filter between my tank and carb, and i also use one on the end of my fuel fill hose (after the pump so it will catch any shavings that may come from pump).

Glad that worked out for you. Had i known that, i may have used it, and done dual servos for the elevators, but used the same mounting tray. I dont really care for the two rods connected with the collars. I will probably do the dual aft servos down the road sometime.

The weather here in CA is stormy right now, so we are getting lots of rain and wind.

Are you going to be able to get some video of the maiden?

    Thanks,
    Jeremy

    RE: Larger Revolver

    ORIGINAL: mach2

ICEMAN, thanks for the info. Maybe i was looking a pic that wasnt really a RCGF 20cc. Or maybe the first version?

I may try one out on my next plane. I haven't maidened the revolver yet, but im already looking at doing an Edge 540. Just so I have two nice sport planes incase one has a problem, or I crash one...

And thanks for letting me know that the 15cc is a dud. I was thinking about doing a small 540 and using that motor. Ill probably get a .60-.90 size plane and use the 20cc.

How close are you to your Revolver maiden?
I just need to receive some things to assembly in it , some 1/8 pin-hinges , 2 servo extensions and one Futaba 3004 for throtle , I believe a week or two . Just because I said to myself that I woould never buy anything else at the local Hobbyshops in my city , they must be in jail !

Talking about my next project , I need to say somethig , I LOVE THE PILATUS PC-21 ESM !!!! , But here the price is US$ 1600,00 !!! And when a buy the Pilatus and a Breitling MXS-R 50c or 100cc I will be satisfied !! I already have a Kyosho P-51 , a Piper Cub , so with these other aquisitions my Hangar will be ok for me !

    RE: Larger Revolver

    Mach2,

I have the same filter set up on my DLE 55, but you may find in time that the internal cup filter still gets clogged. It may have something to do with the alcohol. Mine accumulates some type of fine lint that gets through the other filters. The lint can be gently scraped off the internal filter with a tooth pick.

Cool, thanks. Iguess that means that the filter is doing a good job of catching everything. Is yours the gold anodized one, or the plastic one that is specifically for gas? When i bought mine at the LHS, the dude told me that is was for gas. But i noticed that the H9 website states that they are good for gas and glow. Hopefully it really filters well enough for gas. They have replacement screens for them dont they?
