lecgo41,
You may have a tough time getting the plane to balance at 140mm? Maybe nose heavy? If it gets to the point where you are adding weight to the tail to get it to balance, many of us flying this plane with gas have moved the elevator servo(s) to the back of the plane for the purpose of balancing?

RE: Larger Revolver
greatlakespilot - Last weekend I flew with Knockoffs (see his excellent Rev 70 \ DLE 20 vids on Youtube). He's flying a Xoar 15x8 (black paint) - his plane is extremely fast.
Though wjc is flying a 14x12 (APC?) - and that sounds very fast - 118mph , I believe? I'm going to have to pick up a 14x12 and try that myself.

RE: Larger Revolver
Hello. I asked the wife to sew to me a cover under wings, the cover turned out very beautiful and strong. The total price is 220 rubles or 7,10 dollars. Time it is spent - 4 hours, very quickly.

The plane will be controllable at 150mm - but might be a bit much to handle for a pilot not familiar flying a performance type plane? If you are familiar flying a sport plane, and have been flying a lot very recently, sure, go for it! If it's been a while since you have flown, you might want to have the CG set at 140mm, or possibly have the plane test flown and trimmed for you by somebody you feel is capable?

RE: Larger Revolver
was out wiggling my thumbs last night for the first time this year. flew the revolver. so my fourth season with this bird has begun. felt a little rusty, mostly flew figure eights while concentrating on a smooth and light touch. still loving this plane. bought four cases of fuel at my LHS to get the season started. i like to buy in bulk so that i can save money on gasoline by not having to run back and forth to the LHS. local club field is in great shape, grass, 500'x500' ish square in the middle of farm fields and of course the crops are not up yet. the closest trees are a half a mile away.
my youngest kid just graduated collage, was number one in her field, had six job offers without applying anywhere, she starts her new job next wed. . you know what they say number one gets to do, 'anything they want'. i keep telling her that she now has to send 20% of all earnings to me. that's the rule right? i paid for her schooling and now she can contribute towards my hobbies, right? have not gotten a firm responce yet but i am trying! i know, off topic, but damm i am proud!
i still loving this bird! still think it is one of the great rc planes!
happy flying, capt

RE: Larger Revolver
Capt - congrats on your #1. I've heard a few people say that the Rev 70 is their favorite of all of their planes. I love having a variety of planes for their looks, personalities and flying characteristics, but, overall, the Rev 70 is my favorite, too. (though we'll see when I finally land that Rev 90).
wjc - has your Rev 90 surpassed your 70 as your favorite Revolver? (or of all of your planes??)
btw - I picked up a 48" Sig Fazer profile here on RCU for $20. Put in an old Megatech 46 2s and a receiver I already had, cleaned it up, set the throws, re-balanced, and maidened it today. What a fun plane! It's got good speed and vertical, and the roll rate is tremendous (on low rates). And its' a nice looking plane! Lands like a feather, too. Did a flat-spin easily. My friend was jealous! (always a good sign). $20!! I love getting a good deal on used planes...

RE: Larger Revolver
Mike, I should warn you about profiles if that's your first. ANY profile. VERY contagious!
Have the Revolver back together after hitting a hole in the air with it last week. Turned out pretty good, though undoubtedly heavier up front, right where it doesn't need it! Anyone ever hear of helium filled spinners? Will see how this affects it's CG the first couple of flights. Honestly don't remember where I had it? Hopefully not affected too much? Of note during the rebuild is the fact the pull pull rudder servo grommets had pretty much turned to mush. Destroyed by constant knife edge flying? Waiting for weather now.
Capt1957, the graduation is great! The fact she did so well even better. That HAS to take away a lot of the sting for those education dollars! Now the relief of not having to go through that again likely starting to settle in as well? Congratulations.... to both of you!

Al -
Funny you should mention profiles - from that same guy on RCU (he was having a "moving" sale) I picked up a 42" Ultimate Blue Hawk Bipe with OS 46 for $50! I'm working on it now. I never thought I was a profile flyer, but evidently I was wrong! Looking forward to flying this bipe soon.

Could be? The 16x8's are generally turning in the range of 8500 or so. That's a much safer rpm to be turning on the ground - knowing full well it's going to unload in the air. If you scream a DLE 20, you run a pretty good chance of squeaking the rod bearing sooner or later. That's been proven quite a few times - not sure there's even a point to it from a performance perspective?

RE: Larger Revolver
Hi Mike
Been out of the country for a week, and away from the field for mre than that, so i am experiencing flying withdrawal again.
My favorite plane? Probably my AW Extra 300 / DLE55. It is superb. My R70 is right up there as well, as is the R90. My DLE55RA on the R90 needs more hours to get the power she needs to be her best. The R90 is a sweet airframe; not as capable as the AW Extra, or my 25% Extra 260 with respect to aerobatics, but it is definitely a delight to fly.
Next R70 project is getting the 13.5 pitch prop on her, retuning the needles, and getting her in the air with instruments.

Well, I would say if you want to try and match his performance, you could start by using the same prop, but there are a LOT of other variables in play......
Oil used, temp, humidity, barometric pressure, state of tune, state of break in, those are a few?
