Way too big and heavy, a 20cc is more than enough.

well, with over 2,000 flights on my first 70 revolver, i crashed it. pilot's fault. now finishing up putting next one together. still my all time favorite RC plane. new one has a new OS 95 ax, last one had a OS 91 fx.
bought this arf years ago just in case. now happy i did.

going to set up with flaperons this time so to slow the plane quicker on final. i recall that one owner set up to have the ailerons to go up to slow and force the plane down. not me, both ailerons down to float in like a trainer, i'm hoping.
next season is spring, i want to be ready

i reenforced the landing gear area and the firewall. epoxy and fiberglass. those have been the noted weak areas with this arf

Ailerons up is called reflex and that delays stall. Putting them down increases the chance of a tip stall...not recommended.

the wing shape on this revolver is the same as a giles 203. it has always proven to be very stable in RC size planes.

the trailing edge is 90 degs from the fuselage unlike , say an edge. the revolver is just like the sig kadet senior, which slow flys very well with full down flaperons.
prolly all 'apples and oranges' though.

will deploys the flaperons 'three mistakes high' and watch what happens.

any thoughts?

had a great talk with lifer. nice guy. learned a lot about setting up ailerons for different wing shapes. learned different options for using flapperons. nice.

60 years playing with model airplanes, still learning

frankeldan, your video was so good that i too bought the model way back when. put a os 91 fx in it. the revolver is the best all around RC plane that i have ever had. you certainly led the charge.
i finally lost that plane, but, had one on the shelf for when the happened. the new one has the os 95 ax. first warm day and i'll be flying it.

Thanks Capt,
Ive enjoyed this model. I’ve gone through 3 of them since I made that video in 2009. I have powered them with the Super Tiger 90 with a pitts muffler , Saito Fa125 , Rimfire 80 with 6s and my last one which I stalled last year on landing with a DLE 20. They are back ordered now but this airframe keeps me coming back to it for more.

Happy Flying,

Dan

this is my second revolver. i prolly had over 2000 flights on my first. sfter reading this thread back when started and watching your video i reinforced the landing gear area with fiberglass, not metal and that plane was the longest lasting plane ever for me. i lost it due to pilot error, not the plane's fault.

I have a Revolver 70 airframe for sale in the Phoenix area if anyone is interested. It's in good shape with just the usual minor scrapes on the wing tips and wheel pants as well as some wrinkling of the Monokote. I was flying it with an OS 1.20AX (awesome power, accelerate going vertical) and the cowl is cut for that engine. However, I will include a brand new and uncut cowl for it as well. I would be glad to discuss selling the engine with the airframe should somebody by interested in the combo. Not interested in shipping, sorry.

maidened the revolver. 3 flights. breaking in the 95ax, and it's already pulling hard. the plane flies great, as expected.

had four dead sticks with this new engine. cleaned the lines, filter, aircleaner, carb. running strong now. the engine is just now acting broken-in. this is my alltime favorite model. i love how it flys.

yesterday, i had 5 deadstick. i tried everything i could do at the field. then i packed up and went home. tonight i took the entire fuel system apart. the clunk had fallen off the fuel line inside the tank, a hayes tank. that will cause problems. new fuel lines, clunk properly attached. i. thinking i'm good to go. hope to fly in the morning.

i got some fuel plumbing issues fixed and this plane is rocking. the new engine is starting to break in. prolly ten/fifteen more flights and it will be in the sweet spot.
this plane is great on windier days. plus the wind helps to slow it down for landings. fall flying here in ohio. fun stuff
