Larger Revolver

I just completed mine this morning. Total weight dry is 8 lb 12 oz with no lead used to balance. I used dual elevator servos and a 5 cell 2000 mah NiMh battery beside the Rx in the servo bay. Power is an OS 95AX with a Bisson pitts muffler. The CG is at 5.5" so I will have to use a bit of lead to move it back after. I find that the recommended CG is usually too far forward for my liking. My left wheel pant is way out of line so I am going to remove it and the blind nuts and move the holes a bit so it lines up with the other side.. Otherwise it is ready to go.

you will enjoy this plane very much. the lighter the plane the better. at your weight you will find that this bird slow flys better then most trainers. this is my all time favorite 'swoop and loop' plane. mine has easily over 1,000 flights on it and is in great shape. 0s 91 fx. all original stock equipment. the only repair required has been that the tail wheel assemble loosened up in rudder creating slop. drilled into the side of rudder and filled with epoxy. fixed.
have always enjoyed your view point super08. please give flight report!

Well thanks for that, very nice of you to say.
I ran it up in the driveway before the rain hit today and I see I will have to expose the top of the head after all. It is just rubbing on the fins enough that over time it will cut through anyways. Back out with the Dremel tool again, shouldn't take long to cut out. I have another 95 here so I will use the head off of it to trace out the outline and cut the cowl without removing the engine. That's the plan anyway until something goes wrong.

Is every one busy flying or something?
Thread seems all but dead now.
Well I've got mine going.............finally.
Been a long time coming!!! Did all the changes I wanted and took her up 4 times now.
Great flying, intimidating - because it's so heavy (don't have a scale to check)
but great flying, I do have a few vids so I'll upload that right before I start the rebuild thread documenting the work to bring it back to life. Loads of pics too.
I took it up with a xoar 16x6 and it must be the weight because my bird feels like that DLE 20 is just not enough engine for it, evident in a vertical climb for a loop I can really feel it struggling.
Still, I'm quite happy with how it turned out and so is my master re-builder (looking on like a proud father at the first flight) what a relief that was!
I like the wood props but flying off dirt causes it to kick up lots of pebbles and I'm noticing degradation on the leading edge of the prop already.
I've only got one wood prop so I guess I'd better hurry and get more from redwing or something. They seem to have a better deal than tower's xoar's.
That's all for now I'll include a pic of what she looks like now.

el_xero - the DLE 20 is more than enough engine for the Rev 70! In fact, if you like power and speed (and low fuel bills) it's the perfect engine! I've even heard one guy say it's TOO much power for him. btw - use the APC or Xoar 16x8 with this engine. 16x6 is under-propped. I get unlimited vertical and excellent speed with an APC 16x8. (or a 15x10 would do it, too.)
Good luck!

Does anybody know if Great Planes ever addressed the weak landing plate problem? I had the gear rip out of mine today and instead of fixing it...again....I decided to order a new fuselage.

I picked up the 70 at a swap meet and am getting together
my build plan after reading through this entire thread. Great information and thanks to everyone for documenting all of the recommended mods.
With respect to the LG reinforcement is there anything further on the use of bamboo skewers. It just seems to me like a very easy
mod....... Just wondering how it worked out.
Thanks
