I still am enjoying my 60 size with the Saito 100 in it.  Why did they discontinue this great model.

I completed mine with a Eflite 46 and a 4s battery. Went together real quick (two evenings). Looks real sharp but its going to get real small in a hurry when you get it in the air. Going electric was very easy with this model. It did come in nose heavy placing the battery on the supplied tray. I had to move the battery as far back as it would go to get a reasonable balance without adding tail weight. Have not flown it yet due to weather conditions. Jerry.

Jerry,

You'll love the Shoestring, and it doesn't get small as quick as you think. With the O.S. .55AX, it really moves out- My review partner and I estimated between 90- 100 MPH at full throttle!

It also handles very well, mine was just a little nose heavy, balancing around 1/4" in front of the recommended CG.

Just a FYI that I forgot to mention. The fit and finish on this model was excellent. I look forward to getting it in the air over the holidays if the weather improves.

Yes, Jerry, I would agree that the Shoestring almost falls together out of the box. The fiberglass fuse was really cool too!

Jerry, is there room for a 5S pack? I like the Power 46 on 5S myself.

I saw your video on U Tube but it looks like it has <the review> not been published on here yet.

It's probably a bit too much engine for the Shoestring, but I can say I've seen crazier things done.

You'll have to put a bunch of weight in the tail if you put that much up front. The plane comes in nose heavy with a Eflite 46 which weighs alot less than a 91. Jerry.

I have been looking at this plane and have a 55AX and a 61 magnum sitting around. I am concerned about cooling with as sealed up as that cowl looks, (which by the way looks really cool) . Can anyone post a pic of the underside of the cowl with cooling cutout, and did you have to open up the holes in the front any? Thanks

This plane screams to go fast, the bigger engine the better.

Skysfallin-

I installed the os .55 AX, and the plane is a screamer! I added a pitts style muffler, and cut a hole in the bottom of the cowl approx. 1 1/2" by 2" and it was adequate cooling. Also, the the rear end of the cowl cheeks is open to allow air to escape.

A 4stroke will defeat the purpose. 4strokes have power, you want speed! I love 4strokes, but for speed you really want a 2stroke

Thanks gabarber for the fast reply. The more I look at this plane the more I like it. I'll have myself talked into it before the weekend is out.

The Top Notch models Shoestring takes an OS FS91 and that's much bigger than the GP version.

I was about to mount my O.S. 55 to my Shoestring but a resent accuired Nelson .50 changed my mind. I guess its going to be an interesting project with many issues to be solved. The biggest I guess is to get the pilot (me) up to par with the aircraft.
There in no throttle on these engines, Its full speed with an option to turn it off. I will have to work with cooling of the cylinder head and the internal mounted pipe. Looks great with a clean exterior. Metall gear servos and pinned hinges is required.
Should be really fast I guess, I really do not know.

In the first picture, the carb appears to have a throttle arm, how does the 'no throttle-just shut it off ' work?

The needle valve is mounted on the engine block and is only for highspeed, The barrel valve with the lever is only to be used to shutoff.
No idle screw, This is a racing engine buildt only for full speed. With a high pitch prop and high rpm it should be interesting to take off.
