Hmmm...would Saito 1.00 be adequate? I'm not an unlimited vertical kind of guy....and I have one in the box, just waiting for a good home...I know it pulls a heavy stick straight up for a long time, though it's not needed for that.
1441 Sq. Inches of wing...wow. That might not be enough. I guess the Syssa would be a good candidate..

RCar4,
Thank you! Great thread, looks to be full of great tips and experiences for that plane. Those gear really make a difference, don't they? Improves the looks a whole bunch, and it was already nice looking.
I appreciate this.

Jim,
I would be interested in following your build, if the others don't mind maybe you could post it here. On a side note, my son is getting married Saturday and I am ready to PARTY!!

Please extend my congratulations to your son! Have a great time!
As far a doing a build on the Super Sportster, I don't think I will, but I could posts a few photos now and then showing what I did differently from the stock bird. The big question is where I should post them. Not sure it's appropriate to post them here.
I think when I do post some photos I'll post them in the Giant Super Sportster thread and drop in to let you know that I posted them there.
JIM'S 'COUPE NEWS:
I was also asked by somebody to name an amount I'd take for my Coupe airframe. I'll take 150 bucks plus whatever it costs to ship it by Greyhound, or I can drive a ways to meet you halfway. I've stolen the Mini-me out of it, the Sullivan tail gear, and the tires, but I'll include the original foamy tires, they're still new. And the usual; I grabbed the servos, radio gear, and engine, and gas tank. But I left the gas lines in place, and the fuel dot. You can even see where the fuel filter is usually strapped down in the engine compartment. The linkages are all in place. The dashboard stays with it. The mini-me pilot had the RX glued into it, so I didn't really have a choice with that one...the AR7000 cost about 130 bucks.
It would be nice to find a good home for the old girl.

Hey, guys, here's the link to the GSS thread, where I posted my first photos of the Giant Super Sportster I'm building right now, as promised.

That makes two of us Chuck. My guess is that a P6E and a DLE30 might have to find their way under the Christmas tree (if they can get past the trained attack wienerdog)

RE: Pacific Aeromodel Clipped Wing Monocoupe Build
I opted not to get the Curtis bipe, I was wanting to get a bipe where I could use another Syssa 30CC, and the Curtis was in the running, but I believe it was the wingspan that took it out of the running. I can't recall if that was the exact reason now.
Instead I came across the Super Stearman and started to search threads, and found it's a really good candidate for the Syssa SAP180, though it will fly fine with a Saito 180 in it as well.
So, that's supposed to arrive here tomorrow. The Syssa in a couple of weeks. I'm still hammering away at the Giant Super Sportster. I was hoping to have it ready to fly this weekend, but the UPS guy didn't show up with my Stearman landing gear until an hour ago. Adding the upgraded gear takes a full day of work by itself. Not a big deal, but I'll bet the weather is gonna be perfect this weekend. Oh, well.

Wing panel is 30-1/2" long (span), Aileron starts 3-3/8" from the fuse, and the Aileron extends out 27-1/2" from that point.

Just another reminder, I am selling my airframe. I'm a bit surprised, but the interest in the airframe so far has been limited. If you are interested in the wings I would sell them to you.
I can take photos of any aspect of it you would like.

I'm putting my Clipped Wing 'Coupe on the market. Info in the 4 sale posts here on RCU. It's RTF but has never been flown. If you're interested, check it out and PM me.

Can't be but so much pentup demand for these. Had it online for a week, ~1500 or so looks but no offers for the package. One is interested in the airframe, another interested in the wings.

I had mine up last week and there was a guy who had his up the week before, and he had a real good deal on his, something like 400 or 500 with the gasser on it. Kind of filled the immediate demand for the time being, I guess.

I don't try to sell much of my stuff anymore. It seems you have to sell for about 10 cents on the dollar. A lot of stuff I give to a friend who is a very talented flyer but has limited resources. For the 10 percent return, I'd rather give the stuff to a friend.
