Default Aero-Works Cessna 195 ARF

Has anyone received their Cessna 195 yet? I received mine a few days ago and have issues and am wondering if anybody else has had any problems with their kit?

Default RE: Aero-Works Cessna 195 ARF

Here are my issues with the Aero-Works Cessna 195.
1. Right wing aileron was binding.
2. Left wing nav light fairing cracked
3. Vertical fin will not lay flat of fuselage. Had to add 3/32" balsa to the leading edge of dorsal fin. Had to recover due to the addition of balsa.
4. Trailing edge of vertical fin hits tail cone when installed leaving another gap. Had to sand down trailing edge of vertical fin.
5.Tail cone screws hole pre drilled do not line up on one side. Had to plug and redrill new holes.
6. Elevator control rod had no head to tighten and was to short.
7. Elevator servo pocket cut in wrong place. Had to move servo to the left 3/8" to line up with pushrod. They say to use 1 1/4" servo arm and then they use the inboard servo arm hole. If that is the case, why do you need 1 1/4" arm? If you use the inboard servo arm hole, I guess you do not need to move the servo over 3/8".
8. Landing gear fairing would not fit correctly into fuselage with gear installed. Had to sand down front of fairing for it to fit flush with fuselage.
9. Optional beacon light has cracked bulb. Inop out of the package. 10. Wing anti rotation pin drilled to close to fuselage to get saftey pin installed.

The sad part is that I, the consumer has to pay all of the return shipping for any damaged or defective parts. I pre ordered this model to get free shipping, now all of my savings are going down the drain. I bought this model due to the outstanding quality that I have heard about Aero-Works. At this point and time, I feel my $1000.00 investment has a lot to be desired. I hope they will be willing to work with me for all of the short comings of this kit. I hope nobody else has these issues.

I assume that before posting here, you contacted Aeroworks. What did they have to say ?

So Hellcat what did you like about the airplane? I recieved mine no broken parts, well packed.
You should contact them and they should take care of you. I did have one aileron bind but if you work the aileron back and forth it frees up. It was a little epoxy from the hinges that was the issue. I always work the control surfaces and pull on them to make darn sure they are glued in place. I should have my servos and motor this week and be able to get started on the assembly on this Classic Airplane.

I have spoke to several people and they are willing to replace the defective parts at my expense. I have a call in to Rocco, but he has not responded. I am just shocked at the quality of this Aero-Works QB Arf. I assumed it would be much better for the amount of money it cost. I believe it has a lot of potential once I get everything worked out. I know they have quality planes because I have seen a lot of them where I fly. That is one reason why I decided to spend the big bucks.

I have installed all 4 wing servos. it helps to use seperate channels for each control surface. then program your Tx.

The Aero-Works website has real good pictures of the plane. Probably better than I could provide. They also have a flying video of the Cessna 195.

I am glad to hear both that you were properly taken care of, and Aeroworks continues to maintain a high level of quality and service.

Enjoy your beautiful new airplane.

My wing tube fits really tight on one wing. Any suggestions how to fix this? It is almost impossibel to get the wing off the way it fits since it is so tight.

Sand the outside of the carbon tube with fine sandpaper. But sand only the half that goes into the problem wing half.

Hellcat716,

Just as teamscalepilot said. I like to Use a round wooden dowel and glue or tape the sandpaper to it and sand lightly. Check the fit of the wing tube frequently as you don't want the wing tube to be to loose.

A Saito 1.70 would probably fill the bill.

We just got one Yesterday. One of the ailerons was binding on ours too, but what a nice ARF.
The common recommendation is a DLE 30 but we have an OS 160 on hand and would have to order The DLE....hmmm...
