RE: great planes revolver
A lot of people have beefed up the mounting area. I've never had a problem with mine but I suppose it could be an issue on rough grass fields.
Some people have switched to Du-Bro gear as well. I tried this and I actually think it caused more prolems than it solved. It was springier than stock gear and put the wheels in a more forward position. In my mind that resulted in more bounce on landing.

the problem isnt the gear itself but the where its mounted and the lack of strength to handle any had/rough landings. the mounting plate is at the very fron of the fus. with very little material on the mounting plate to distribute the load. very high force is applied to a small area. The easiest and lightest fix. is how I have done my gear.
1. remover covering 1 inch behind mount plate(MP) and 1/2 inch to the out sides all the way to fire wall.
2. before you install the lower firewall plate install this last if so desired not required, round the corner of the fues and firewall. about a 1/8th to a 1/4 radi.
3. no mix up some 20-30 minute epoxy and cut some fiberglass up the will fit over the MP and wrap around firewall down it to the corner.
4. take acid brush and apply epoxy to mp and firewall.
5. add fiberglass cloth work with fingers and acid brush to get the mixed in the cloth. If needed add alittle more epoxy. I used two layers of 1 ounce cloth for mine.
6. once the cloth is transparent take some wax paper and put on top of cloth. work out all excess epoxy and bubbles. let set over night.
You should do the same to the firewall where the engine mounts aswell. round corners off and apply same as above and use wax paper.
Using the above method only added about 3/4 - 1 ounce total weight. with this method the fiberglass gear will break before the MP will pull out of the fuse.
I have seen where guys add 1/4 ply all the way from fire wall to way past the wing on the bottom, apply over 6 ounces of epoxy to the bottom of the fus from the inside to even using aluminum plate. All just added alot of weight and wasnt anywhere near as strong as my method above. Our field has had many of these planes. we all race them and mine has been the one to hold up.

I've been really lucky with mine so far. The fiberglass does sound like a more than adequate fix though and won't be noticeable like a lot of braces and brackets like I've seen on some.

RE: great planes revolver
I don't know what all the fuss is about on the gear. I can land mine almost 100% of the time without any bounce. I did find if I make it just a hair tail heavy, It lands perfect because the fuel is never empty on landing. However, I did sell it but later got it back and the gear was ripped out so I did minor repair and used the landing gear from my Hangar 9 Aresti and they work even better because they don't have the bouncy give that the original gear has. If anyone has any idea where I can find a used cowl that hasn't been butchered too bad, let me know. They are on back order until March but you know how that goes...

Get 1/16 aluminum aheet from hobby shop-cut to width of landing gear where it mounts on fuselage-make a 90 deg bend and extend up firewall to behind electric motor moung-attach there with s/m screws-extend past first former behind landing gear mount block-drill holes and mount landing gear on top-use DuBro 60 size L/G-and plenty of epoxy in fuselage around landing gear block-have used this on 4 of the 70's -
