Started the Saito this morning, just to see if it ran ok, before taking it out to the field for breaking in runs this Saturday.
I also weighed the model & it came in at 22.5lbs, with empty fuel tank.

Hey Jim,

I was thinking of putting my FG60-R3 in this plane, do you think it will be enough power? It should fit in a little easier than your 84, but not sure if it would have the 'guts' to fly it. I have heard it is a pretty light arf. I would probably save some weight by putting in some LADO e-tracts....maybe.

Lets hear how your maiden goes! Good luck, and nice build.

Andy

Hi Andy. I think the FG60 would be very marginal for power. The Corsair requires the weight of the FG84 to get the C of G right.
I have had about 20 flights with the Corsair now & it is perfect with the FG84.
Despite the version 2 having an improved set of twist & turn retracts, I found that my set would not work reliably. I fitted a Eurokit set, as I did on my old version 1 Corsair.

Small clip someone posted on facebook.

ESM is nice. I am currently refitting my V1 with the complete ESM Corsair gear. Had the Sierra gear but not satisfied with their rotation design and scissor function. Would still consider the new V2 if and when they become available in USA. The shops I checked with in Europe will not ship to USA!!

It would look really goofy if they fitted 6 inch wheels on it. The aircraft is scale, so the wheels are the scale size I guess. I've nearly finished building mine with a Saito FG60R engine. Balances very well. First flight in about 3 to 4 weeks. Ancient Cliff, East coast of Australia.

Here is a short video og me flying my version 1 a couple of weeks ago. RGC-50 engine and LADO
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itjhYIjVQAs Still great fun!

Is it correct that the new edition has 100 degree retracts?

There is now a third version of retracts supplied. They have much larger cylinders & are wider, to accommodate the cylinders. I have not used them yet, but they are very powerful & more substantial than the two previous offerings.
I do not have a protractor to measure the retract angle. They are the same angle as the version two all aluminium set. Not sure what the angle of the crappy plastic first version was.
The angle of the latest ones is just over 90 degrees, so are probably 100.

I have a question about the rudder. Did anyone using the stock torque rod for the rudder. I noticed that mine is very weak. I just flicked it with my finger and it oscillates easily. I'm ready for maiden, but I'm afraid that the rudder will flutter bad in the air.

Default Any reports on new landing gear

Hi I realise this is an old thread but i just ordered one of these and could use some feedback. I was wondering how the new retracts hold up and also how it flys with the saito fg60r3?
This is the engine i am going to install and going by the weight it should hall it around fairly well.
Cheers Brad

Hello,

On new Black Horse Corsair, please could you tell me if you noticed also a wing construction mistake ? ( twisted )

I know a friend what must adjust the neutral of ailerons of 10mm up on right and 10mm down on left, same as this video

Can anyone post pics of the latest landing gear, especially showing the twist & turn method?
Also, is it robust & working well?

I just got mine and am in the process of building it. Hoping to maiden it either this week or next. The gears are electric and the tail gear is plastic. I hope it will last. I have an EME70 twin with electric start. The plane weights at 24lbs with 0.5lbs of added weight on the nose to balance out using the included CG kit.
