Its got a Zdz 60 in it and carries it well.
Pretty stress free put-together the only thing I changed was the landing gear.
Wish I could cover like that!!

Mine weighed in at 17lbs with a G-62. I didn't change a thing, as it balanced right on. Flies great.........

Thanks
Used some real T6 as I thought the supplied was a bit on the thin side for my bouncy two hoppers.

I replaced it with the Ohio Superstar style as I preferred the springs although its heavier.
Dave Brown Vortech spinner pre drilled by RCS
Duralite Lithium 3600 pack
5945 Rudder, 5645 Elevators and 5625 Ailerons ( I regret the 56 series as they have 300ma more draw than the 59s)
I did pin the firewall although they had glassed it some.
One thing I like is that when I called Kange they had parts
UNLIKE some selling $1600 dollar planes and you cant get squat the next day.
Glass wing tubes and I have not had a problem even in the changing weather.
I did opt to epoxy the tail on as I could not see me taking it off and didnt want it coming off in flight.

Ordered one yesterday (wed 7-16-03) Will have it in a few days. I hope it flies as good as my TEXAS HURRICANE I'am planing on using a T-52 for power and HITEC 5945 all around. OHIO tail wheel, DON HARRIS smoke system. Looks like a well done plane! Good reviews and no bad threads. MAY THE GAS FUMES BE WITH YOU!!

Default Looks great!

AndyT,

How did the plane balance with the ZDZ 60 up front?

I have a Laser 2000 still in the box at home and I am currently looking for an engine for it. I'm seriously looking at the DA-50R...light weight and lots of power! I suspect the ZDZ 60 pulls that plane around with authority?

The review in RCU magazine has a ZDZ 60 on the nose. The plane on that website that I tried to post has a DA50 on it and it pulls that plane with authority.

Saw the video, Outstanding! He was using a DA-50. The plane flew great! hovering was no problem. Looks like a 3.2 or a ANY newer 50cc will be a good combo, BME- DA- 1st PLACE- ZDZ- TAURUS- 3W. Wish I could have one of each. I was thinking about using this airplane for IMAC novice class, Any thoughts.

I saw that video...pretty impresive! I've pretty much decided on the DA-50R. I just sold a couple glow engines so I may have to pick-up the DA this weekend! My LHS has one in stock. I'm still curious about balancing. I don't want to have to add nose weight with the DA. If that's the case I'll pick-up the ZDZ 60 instead. Any thoughts?

I think your on the right track. Rudder servo and both battery packs should square away balance points without adding wasted weight. hopefully my Harris smoke pump will help me do the same. If not, I will also consider the larger motor.

AJT,

I also intend on flying IMAC with this plane, however I'll be starting in the basic class. I still need to learn the sequence I've got plenty of time unfortunately...I'm preparing for a new baby to arrive in August then a month later my new house is due to be completed. No time for competition

Mistake!!
I also will be in basic, Wish we lived closer I'd would practice the routine with you. Would be good for a laugh I'll be all over the sky at first. (lol) The BABY and the House are more important right now, there will always be time too compete. Just keep your plane ready in case you find time to play. Congratulations on your CHILD and new house. Family IS everything, You have been blessed!

Thanks for the good word AJT. I've got a lot to look forward to

Good luck with IMAC. It would be nice to have someone to practice with. Keep us informed on how the Laser comes out. Good luck!

Thanks Andy
Yeh must be some throwback genes!!

As to balance the best of my balancing act it seemed to be right on the money with the Battery pack aft of and next to the wing tube and the gas tank half underneath it. The ignition pack is just behind the firewall with the module and the reciever 10" aft of that on the little servo tray. Leaves a large area behind the firewall for the ZDZs blowback to run down.

First few flights seem to be balanced good but there is room to move move stuff around without adding weight.

Mid wings seem a little seesaw on the balance machine to me ?

the tube seems to agree with the published starting CG

My pilot is probable adding a little bit as without him it was a little nose heavy.

I setup the rates as per the manual and will definately have to change them as you can go have a snooze by the time its done a roll. But better safe than sorry on the frst few flights...Ive learnt the hard way!!!

I will say that this model is what I wanted from an Arf. NOT Having to re engineer it to fly it with a gasser etc.

That's one of the reasons I chose this model. I hate having to do extra work of ARFs to keep them from falling apart. I also like the fact that not a lot of people have this plane.

Sounds like there is no problem balancing this plane with a wide variety of engines...I like that. Did you keep the rudder servo in the tail?
