Keemos,If you decide to move the firewall let me know and I will give my 2cents worth. Not a hard thing to do, but a little time consuming. I would really try to do the shorter standoffs and deal with the needles in some fashion. Or convert back to side mount carb. They can't be that bad, they were in production for a while.

Bob... I got mine from TBM and they may have all the left over. Chief were out of stock and I'm sure they will be the new version when they get them in. I just couldn't wait so I got mine from TBM.

I had originally ordered mine from Cheif but were backordered. So I got one from Troy Built not knowing which version I was getting. Just lucky. I don't know if there is a change in the stock number between the old version or the new. They should let you know before you buy it. But somtimes its the sale before service.

skysfallin, I have not started mine yet but just had to open it back up to measure the firewall. Mine measures 3 1/4 right in the top middle and on the left side it measured approx 3 3/8 and on the right side it measured 3 1/8". That is facing from the tail to the nose. That should be close to what yours is. I noticed also you put some triangle stock on the top of yours. I thinks this arf is one of the best built and awesome looks that I have purchased. I got my Dle 30 from tower like you did. I have got to get to putting this beauty together.

Wore-out-pilot... what is the measurement of the center offset line you have for your engine box? I just wanted to compare it to mine (old version). Thanks!

Again looking from the rear the left side of box measures 2 1/2" to the center line and on the right side it measures 2 3/4" to the center line. Looking at the top of box the left side is 3 5/16" and the center is 3 1/4" and the right side measures 3 1/8". I hope this is was you where looking for, if not let me know.

If you look at the pictures between mine and Keemos plane you will see a large difference between the motor box length. His picture jumped out at me so I measured mine and found almost an inch shorter. So if your measurement is in the 3.5 inch or less you have the newer version. If you have the longer motor box I would send it back and await the new version. It gripes me that Cheif or Troy Built don't say anything about which version they are shipping, knowing the DLE V1 is not available anymore. I guess they don't want to be stuck with old stock. Sales before service.

i have the old version and you two have the new ones. I think that offset center line will be different too... what is the measurement of the center offset center line on yours?

Keemos, have you decided what to do with your firewall combination? I would cut the hole and put the carb inside the box or convert back to side mount carb. If the needles are an issue the good thing is once you have them adjusted you usually don't have to readjust very often.

skysfallin - i was actually going to cut the firewall... but now my brother offer to buy the plane from me. He has an engine (not a DLE30) that will fit with out mod to the box. I'm just going to wait for the shipment from Chief and hope they are the newer version. Thanks for your help... and i do agree about adjustment to engine once you have them running well... i have a 50cc that didn't have to tinker with with needle after it was tuned correctly.

Thats a shame it won't work, because I raved about how great and well thought out this plane is. I would really have been pissed if I had gotten the earlier version. Anyway I sold my 30cc size and ordered the 50 cc size from Cheif. It is supposed to be here next Monday. I hope it's as well thought out as the 30 size I got first go round. Barracuda Hockey raves about the 50cc size.

The markings are sub par and I had to rework the tail wheel a bit, but other than that, I'd marry it if it were legal in Florida

CustomCutGraphix and fix you up with a scale graphics package, and the tail wheel was a pretty easy fix.

I'm sure it would have worked if I continued with what I’ve planned. I had it posted on the other forum but I might as well post it here just incase someone is look to do it. It looks simple enough now that I see what your engine box was like. If you look at the pictures... I would have cut out the mark area and bring the firewall to 1.1875" giving you a total 2.75" from the center of the box. I would have used the 2 provided rectangle pieces over the sides and I would cut out pieces that would fit on the top and bottom.

I like the 50cc sizes myself and I’m sure you'll be happy with it... but I’m just looking for asmaller gasser. I don't really have space to fit anything bigger in the Mustang... LOL! IfItake my 50 to the field... that's all I can take... hope with the 30 will let me take some of my electric planes.

How is the overall quality of this ARF? I am thinking about getting one for basic IMAC type flying with my Syssa SAP-180HP engine.

Thanks,
Tony

Tony,
Ihave jsut purchased the Sbach 26% from pilot and i would have to say that the build quality is amazing, rubber wheels, no wrinkles on the coverings, gas tank and fuel dot presintalleed, pull-pull rudder cable preinstalled, landing gear reinforced all the links and horns come with the kit. so i have to say Pilot RCreally seem to offer a good package.

Tony, if you have read this thread you will see that there is an early version of this plane designed for the DLE30 v1 and a later version designed for the
DLE30 V2. Since the V1 has been discontinued make sure you get the latest version of this plane. The difference is the length of the motor box. The latest version has a motorbox length of 3.5 in from the cowl ring. Look back through the pictures here and you will see a long and short box.
You want the short box.
