What a klutx! With the Sig somethin Extra
I need some help on how to replace some parts on a new somethin extra I was building.
1. I dropped one of the silicon washer inserts for the canopy never to be seen again.
2. I broke one of the brackets for the tail rod bracing system that bolts into the tail section.
Are these hobby shop items or will I have to contact sig?

sswagerty,
RE silicon washer. I'm cheap. I'd use a paper punch and punch out a piece of plastic milk carton and use it for the washer. If you want it soft - use a dab of clear bathtub silicon on the milk carton washer or use a dab of silicon on a small washer from the hobby shop.
For tail feather rod bracing I use ground terminals from Radio Shack. Another good place to look is the local tackle shop.
Good luck,
John

The bracket thingies in the kit is just a metal threaded or solder (depends on which end) clevis with the pinned arm cut off with a dremel. You need to drill out the hole a bit, too. Do you get something different with the ARF?

bgi,
The ARF comes with plastic clevises on the tail brackets. The kit has metal solder clevises. The inserts he is talking about are kind of important, as the ARF canopy is quite brittle and needs the cushioning.
sswagerty, those silicon inserts can be replaced by round Futaba servo grommets that might be found in your LHS. We use these on heli canopies; they work great for the purpose. The plastic "bracket" can be replaced by a Sullivan Gold'N'Clevis with the half with the pin cut off, and the remaining half carefully bent accordingly.
You're going to like that plane. I murdered mine yesterday by forgetting to connect the wing hooks. It gave new meaning to the term "flying the wings off"...
