Avatar that's a very nice visual contrast, it should help visibility immensely. Although I am little anal about scale looks and in my case I would have added the white checkers to the underside instead. In any case it looks like a very professional finish. Is your friend available for commercial custom vinyl design work? Looks like he does excellent work.

install pics. I used 2.5 inch hex standoffs bought online (threaded on both sides) and used washers to figure out the final distance and tweak the shaft position a bit to make it perfect center. This is an extremely solid mounting method, that motor isn't going anywhere.

That sure looks like I very solid install. Excuse me if I was perceived to be condescending, that was just my unqualified opinion: I am sorry.
Thanks, and not a problem. I was still fuming a bit from the esc issue.

OK, so I sped read through the whole thread and I didn't see anyone using a single 6s pack unless my eyes didn't pick the post up. 6s 5000's batteries is what I have to use to make this plane work for me. Being a heli pilot I have 14-6s 5000 30 and 35C lipos. What ever 25% plane I get needs to run these also. My other option is a 3DHS 71" Slick which seems to not have a problem running a 6s pack although I'm really leaning towards this Redwing MX2.

I have a Hacker A50-16S or Infinite 4035-360, Ice 100, BEC Pro and a 18-8, 18-10 or 19-8 wooden Turnigy or Xoar props to choose from right now. I'll do the Power HD DS90 servos for the control surfaces and maybe a 9150 for the rudder if I need to.

Thoughts for a new comer to this thread?

The plane will have no issue running a single 6s 5000 pack. Should make for a pretty light setup.

Out of those two, I would choose the 16s because of the higher kv rating. They are only rated to 1200 but I've seen them pushed pretty hard. The infinties are nice as well but that one will only produce 1800 watts or so on 6s

I'd go xoar 18x10 or 19x8 on the 16s

Or just grab a few packs of 2s 5000mah lipos and series them up to get 8S and be good to go.

I've had a few CC 85 HV's go up in smoke and I have to say their customer service is second to none.

Thanks for the info on the set-up I asked about.

I may if I have to. Kinda like the simplicity of a single pack but ultimately I will do what ever the plane needs me to do. Just shooting for a single 6s pack for now. I'm just going to learn 3D on a plane so I'm sure I can get by with a little less power than you guys.

Learn 3d on this plane?? Probably want some extra power then. Need power to recover from mistakes. That is why I went with my Motrolfly.

8s wouldn't be good for either of those motors though. If you wanted to buy a new motor, the Motrolfly dm-4325-380 would be a good choice, throw a big prop on it and you would have a powerhouse. (or even the 450 if you use a 18x8)

I bought the cheapest fun.fly plane I could find to LEARN 3d and its way over powered.
Mine is a phoenix fun star.

Trust me, the cheap plane is worth the investment over crashing this gasser after a "finger fart"

Hey Fahad,

I am pretty sure that carbon gear are unavailable at this time. And I saw your post in the goldwing thread, something to think about. if you had that same deadstick with carbon gear, one of two things probably would have happened: 1- Gear would have snapped (had it happen before) or 2: It would transmit all the force directly to the lg plate and structure and ripped all that up.

I stick with aluminum gear, cheap to replace and absorbs a lot of force

I don't have any idea of what this 150cc size Sbach power consists of but......... it sure packs a really big punch. [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LIQx0EIN_w&feature=player_embedded]CLIK HERE FOR YouTube VIDEO[/link]

Interesting. By my calculations that is pretty underpowered. Usually one will do a 12-14s setup on a 150cc plane. You can tell how underpowered it is on pullout. He needs to step up to a jetispin 300 and 14s

As I said, I don't have any idea what this Sbach is equipped with. Where did you found the specs?

Yeah, I was reading it and noticed that he put "DesirePower 5000mAh 10S x 2 = 10.000mAh". That didn't seem right, the ESC can only handle up to 14S and he says 10S x 2, which would be 20S @ 5000mah. Anyways he is a tad underpowered and should up to 12s for more punch, the motor can handle it, I don't know if that motor can go 14S though.

It can The a150 is rated to 14s. I'd go with 8k 14s for a ballistic plane that would still weigh about the same

Per the specs on Espirit's website 9000Watts MAX 190A MAX for 15 sec... per the math... P = I x V, or in this case V = P/I I'm only getting 47.4V that's about 11.3 Cells on that motor, I'll say 12 for them being fully charged...

correct me if I'm wrong, because I may be... I don't think with 12S or 14S you will beoutputtingthat many Amps so it should be able to handle it.
