Hobbyking 50cc Spitfire
Has anyone built [link=http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=26006]this?[/link]
Looking for ideas/opinions. Thanks Scotty |
RE: Hobbyking 50cc Spitfire
Interesting.
Except for your link, I see no listing for 50cc planes on their web site, or for anything larger than 30cc. Are there other such hidden planes there? |
RE: Hobbyking 50cc Spitfire
This is the thing, not that I've seen. :D

Heh heh thats why I want to know if anyone's built one! :D

RE: Hobbyking 50cc Spitfire
Haven't you guys heard, there is no USA warehouse. Another poster went by there and only found a Postal Service Business.
I personally wouldn't spend $467 on a Hobby King product. Especially with their lack of Customer Service. Frank |
RE: Hobbyking 50cc Spitfire
In the pictures, I think you can see the hot gue flaking away from the joints of the engine box...
|
RE: Hobbyking 50cc Spitfire
I have not heard that Frank; and I hear alot of things from YOU when it involves Hobby King. Who stated there is no USA warehouse? We need to know-so we can correct the rumor-thanks

RE: Hobbyking 50cc Spitfire
There IS a USA hobbyking warehouse. I have bought stuff specifically from that warehouse location.
Im also interested in this Spitfire. Retracts are available from the international store for $155. Compared to the ESM 50cc spit, this is a bargain. Total price WITH retracts is less then just buying the ESM from whatever dealer(LIKE TROYBUILT) when including shipping in either instance. |
RE: Hobbyking 50cc Spitfire
HI,
There is a full review of this model on several sites. The one herehttp://www.ytinternational.co.uk/for...f=17&t=424is from the UK. There is a review on the Warbirds forum on RC Universe but cannot find it at the moment. It goes together well and flies well according the the reviews I have read. Cheers, Merlin Man. |

Im sure that one is a nice plane, but Im not going to pay 1200 british pounds for it either(which is 1940 USD) |
RE: Hobbyking 50cc Spitfire
HI,
Yes, sorry about that case of mistaken identity. Cheers, Merlin. |

RE: Hobbyking 50cc Spitfire
HK crap customer service is enough to keep me away from sending themn any more $$$. Not to mention that allot of thoer products are complete utter junk. Buyer beware. Be aware. IMHO spend your money some where else. might be more expensive some where else but at least you will have a chance to enjoy your purchase.

RE: Hobbyking 50cc Spitfire
Always there is someone with an axe to grind. This is a thread about the plane, not someone's distaste of the company that sells it.
I for one have spent many thousands of dollars through hobbyking and not ever had an issue with customer service. Others havent been as fortunate. Anyway...you dont wanna buy the plane fine, but this isnt a bash hobbyking thread...go do that somewhere else. |
RE: Hobbyking 50cc Spitfire
I ordered the retracts for this plane to see how well they are made and whether they hold air, etc. If they seem good, I'll probably buy the plane eventually. Ill report back about the gear once they arrive.....but that could be several weeks from now.

RE: Hobbyking 50cc Spitfire
It's too bad that YT International does not have a distributor here in the states.
They have some really nice, high quality planes paul |

RE: Hobbyking 50cc Spitfire
Kahloq,
Yes your somewhat correct. Some of the models are made by ESM or their sub contractors..... but not all. Unfortunately for me the planes I was interested in, were not made by ESM and not available over here. I learned this by calling the three stateside distributors directly. paul |
RE: Hobbyking 50cc Spitfire
Like i said...most warbird and many civilain planes offered on yt's site are made by ESM. Note that I was specific on the types of planes I referencing. I did not include the electrics or jets in that statement which are listed generally separately on yt's site. As I stated not, all but most. There are a couple of the planes in the warbird section made by VQ and a couple large ones offered through easytigermodels here in the USA.
Which plane(s) are you interested in on yt's site? Myabe I can help you locate it. |
RE: Hobbyking 50cc Spitfire
YT International had a 101" AT-6 that looked really nice.
I could not find it anywhere else . Thanks, paul |
RE: Hobbyking 50cc Spitfire
http://www.flyrcmodels.com/ has a 101" but its a fiberglass fuse and foam core wings
Yellow Aircraft has a highly pre-fabricated 101" at-6. Maybe this would work for you: http://www.yellowaircraft.com/props/at6.htm Petrausch has a 134.6" At-6: http://vogelsang-aeroscale.com/petrauschat6.html Have you tried emailing YT international and seeing if they'd either ship you the plane you want or if they know of a distributor that will or is located in the US? |
RE: Hobbyking 50cc Spitfire
Kahloq,
Thanks for your reply The Yellow T-6 has been on my bucket list for years. I've also flown one and loved it. The Petrausch T-6 from Vogelsang in North Carolina is also a nice kit, but just too big. I don't know much about the American Eagle kit but it looks OK I have spoken with YT International several times and shipping the kit over here looks to be pretty expensive. And, as I had posted here earlier......YT International unfortunately does not have a distributor stateside. paul |

Here in the US...there are many KITS such as Zirolli and Byron However, there are several somewhat smaller AT6's you could get. CMP has an 82" version. Topflite has a 69" version. Seagull has a really nice one at 82" as well and its not expensive at all: http://www.horizonhobby.com/products...arf-SEA3550#t2 |
